Are Log Cabin Repukes COMPLETELY Dain Bramaged?
Why do they even bother with the GOP? They say they want to make the GOP more inclusive, but it's not going to happen in our lifetime. Surely they understand that those they support actually HATE them.

Anyway, here's an article where they half-ass slam bush...but not NEARLY enough. http://www.365gay.com/newscon04/01/012104gopGays.htm

Conservative Democrats are hated and despised by our party. Holding unpopular opinions among your peers has always been uncomfortable.

The Log Cabin guys bear a special burden for being totally unable to accept reality, and understand how truly they are despised among their brethren but they may well have economic views that make them Republican....

3. It seems to me it's analogous to Jewish people voting Nat. Socialists....
The right wing republicans want nothing more than to make gay people "disappear" and if they thought they could get away with shoving us into ovens or camps to do so, I don't think many of them would think twice about it.

4. Pleasing Parents or Insolent Intolerance
aIlliteration or ASSonance

It's a family thing for many. Even if daddy and mommy are conflicted, the family political arguments are muted, busy being the best little boys and girls.

Racism plays a part. Gay bars are as segregated as churches.

Denying marriage allows for multiple partners since "society" says they don't have to be monogamous nor responsible in any manner.

6. Greed is the overriding factor
they can ignore injustice to their social position as long as it doesn't affect their pocketbook.

8. LCR...White Suburbia Half-Way House
I'm watching a young man (geesh, I hate that word) who grew up with my daughter. He comes from a very Conservative family, but I could tell back in the 5th grade that he demonstrated "gay" tendencies. In High School, Andrew would spew a lot of right wing dogma in his early years, but that started to change as adolescence kicked in. It was a "hidden secret" to many of us in the community that he "could be" and how this was such a disapointment to his parents...specifically his very religious, right-wing mother.

Andrew graduated with my daughter last June and went off to a small midwestern college; supposedly in a "safe" area by his mother. My daughter kept in touch with him during this time, and so did I...as he went through a lot of changes. Long story shortened, he came to my home at Thanksgiving and came out to my family (we were all appreciative that he felt we were that important to discuss this with) and that he was about to do the same with his family at Christmas. He joined the Log Cabin group in his area that has been very supportive; offering him a sounding board on how to approach his parents.

When we talk politics, Andrew now claims he's a "Libertarian"...and says there's no way he'd vote for *...not only based on the gay issue, but primarily the war and economy that is a far greater threat.

I think there are a lot of Andrews out there that need a gateway to live a more open life in Republican families and better to have some type of organization to turn to. It's obvious that the "mainstream" of the GOOP will never accept gays in any form or fashion and the best the LCRs can accomplish is a certain degree of tolerance while it's members find their way out of the political woodshed.
