Is Colin Quinn worse than Dennis Miller?
he's on right after Jon Stewart, and it's like going from creme fraiche to a cup of leprosy pus.

constant race/gay baiting, in the name of PI-free humor, combined with REALLY unfunny diatribes.

his guests are usually three to one wingnut racist homophobes, to boot, and gang up on the occasional sane guest.

he's even found several African Americans who can best be described as, well.....never mind

reminds me SO much of a coarse, uneducated, unsubtle version of Joel Grey in Cabaret

is this what Weimar humor must've been like?

very very disturbing

4. same here
just turned it off

hard to decide who's more repugnant

I actually think it's Quinn, cause he's SO aggressively, rapaciously ignorant, and his guest try to top each other with their troglodytic blatherings

the fucker has NEVER been funny

he stammers and it hurts to watch him botch his "delivery"

who does he have pictures of?

and I think he is worse because he doesn't come out and say it like miller. of course, both are Weimer humor, all the way.

buycitgo, i, too, find it very very disturbing

10. Hes a really stupid man
Ive heard his rants and he impressed me as a guy who isnt very smart . You must realize that these stupid people are usually repubs. Quinn is a typical conservative who likes to be all tough and gritty , at the same time showing us what an idiot looks like.

Seriously , he is a stupid man.

13. Now Miller was a sellout because
his career was over and he needed a boost. Naturally the Repubs are hollywood starved and jumped at the chance to have a celebrity on their side.

But Miller sold out because he knew his career was over, he had to. Oh well hes the one who has to look in the mirror .

and many of Quinn's guests rock. Many are gay and many are Black and Hispanic.

Lighten up.

It's a joke. And it is supposed to be rough on everybody.

Edited on Mon Jan-26-04 11:57 PM by buycitgo
you have a much stronger stomach than I do

many of the African Americans on that show seem to be big of the Clarence Thomas school of philosophy, as well as being about as funny as he is. and several of the gay guys he's had on are of the Ernst Roehm mold.....

if that's your brand of humor, though, knock yourself out.

and he's NOT rough on everybody...only dems/libs

he LOVES Bush, and has offered up the most ludicrous, tortured paeans to him this side of Peggy Noonan

12. I appreciate ..

I do appreciate their open approach to race issues. If you want to see something even MORE open, watch Chappelle's show.

There is nothing wrong with suggesting that their ARE difference between white and black folk. You just have to acknowledge that we are FAR more alike than different. Just keep it light hearted and don't be mean.

Seriously, Chappelles bit on the blind KKK author who didn't realize he was black!!!! Chappelle takes is deprecating to both white AND black folk. IN the end it's just comedy and people realize that. He isn't trying to put down either culture.

chapelle is, uhhhhhh, funny!

he's unrelenting on his own race.......vicious, but funny, that's the difference

somewhat Pryoresque.

he's funny, that's the key'

Eddie Murphy

Martin Lawrence

Chris (?) Tucker

not funny (Murphy, anymore....sad)

all a matter of taste, of course

That was the funniest skit I've seen in a long time! Dave Chappelle is brilliant!

As far as Colin Quinn, one thing you can say is that he's consistent; he sucked on Remote Control, he sucked on SNL, and he sucks on Tough Crowd.

not very entertaining, could never ever watch a complete Colin Quinn show. Who does watch his shows, college kids, high school maybe? The man show is redundant also.

with whom Colin Quinn sleeps to keep getting the opportunities he gets (SNL and now Tough Crowd). God knows, he ain't funny. He can't even mutter a complete sentence, most of the time.

18. Both Quinn and Miller pivoted to the right to rescue moribund careers
Programing executives are quick to hire right wing smart mouths, irrespective of talent or viewership, because corpro-advertisers are comfortable with them. Quinn and Miller-- vicious opportunists that they are-- rode this wave during last year's war run up.

The only goal of CNBC program execs is to provide eyes for advertisers.

The Dennis fans want to pretend like they're more intelligent because Dennis has a slightly larger vocabulary. However, certain types just don't want to bother with "them big words". For those folks, Colin's their man!

ever since I stumbled across Tough Crowd on our local Comedy Channel (christ knows how it got on the comedy channel????) and was confused about what it was meant to be, was it supposed to funny, because from my angle it was mostly just offensive and ignorant and if you removed those bits all you'd be left with is a grinning middle aged wanker.

I have only seen it a few times and only once did I laugh - it was when Eddie Izzard was a guest and was trying valiantly to explain why killing thousands of innocent Iraqi's to get a one dictator doesn't equal good maths and why the majority of the UK didn't agree to Dubya's Iraq War 2 - Eddie actually had to refute Colin's suggestion that NO Tony Blair hasn't "brought them around now" - and particularly vom inducing was watching his smug face explaining that "well people die in war" - yes "people" meaning iraqi not middle aged middle class wankers watching it all on CNN.

It was unbeleivable to me that someone would willingly flaunt their utter utter ignorance.

23. Unfortunately the "utter utter ignorance" is the norm over here
Do you get "The Daily Show" over there. Jon Stewart shows that Americans are capable of wit and humor, but there aren't that many Stewarts around.

26. I've only seen this show twice...
...and each time it was in a bar with the jukebox cranked up and the TV's volume turned down. Even with no sound I hated the fucking show. I could tell that Quinn was an asshole just by his body language. His rolled up sleeves and the fact that he stood while his guest sat so that he loomed above them like a teacher gave me a bad feeling about this show. I see by the posts here that my feelings were justified.

29. Colin Quinn has the worst delivery of any comedian I've ever seen.
I haven't really watched Dennis Miller since he left SNL, and even then I only remember the news program he did, so I can't really judge his comedic abilities.

However, Colin Quinn is absolutely talentless. I had no idea what his political leanings were when I watched his show for the first time, and I was actually thinking he might be liberal. Anyway, I tried to give him a chance, but he has terrible timing and delivery. Even if his jokes made any sense at all, he would suck based on that alone. You can't understand half of what he says. He talks (barks?) too fast, too jerky, and too much in a monotone. He doesn't put pauses in anywhere, and his facial expressions lend nothing.

No one on his show is funny either, and they have a really nasty hostility even toward each other. That guy with the crooked mouth (Nick DePaolo or something?) is the worst in terms of blatant and unfunny racism. But they pretty much all strike me as a bunch of losers. The show is so annoying that I couldn't even get through a whole show when Al Franken was a guest, and I'll watch Franken on almost anything.

Colin Quinn was never funny on SNL either -- he bungled almost every line. Does SNL save their news slots for their least talented performers?
