Sex, Sex, Sex!

...just trying to get your attention....:)

I was just reading some posts on here about the right wing and their obsession with Clinton's penis and the blow jobs this older man got from this younger woman, and I think I "get it" --a little bit, at least.

Is anyone here familiar with Wilhelm Reich and his book, The Mass Psychology of Fascism?

Reich went on to be labeled a "pseudo scientist" after he defected from Nazi Germany to the U.S. and left the study of psychiatry to study "life energy."

...this study was directly related, however, to his Freudian training and that emphasis on sexual issues in human psychology.

Freud, imo, didn't have it all right, since he was obviously a product of his era and the ideological blinders of patriarchical views of females that had yet to experience a female with the right to vote, for instance. (My answser to Freud's "what do women want" is-- an end to patriarchical bullshit, fool.)

However, Reich makes an interesting observation in his earlier work and relates fascism and other repressive regimes to sexual repression in a nation's population.

It seems to be more than synchronicity that religious fundamentalisms across the world are associated with sexual repression, esp. in their repression of female sexuality.

And the current rise of fundamentalisms across the world has been correctly noted as a reactionary response to the expansion of human rights to females, and the concurrent expansion of female control of their sexuality.

anyway, so where am I going with this...

probably people have written about this all over the place and I'm just not aware of it, but I wonder if anyone else on this board sort of gets that "aha!" moment when trying to understand our current slide into proto-fascism as the governmental equivalent of sexual repression.

I should go find a Reich quote...which I will...

so here's one-

"When we speak of genuine social freedom, it is not a matter of this or that group. The history of society is determined exclusively by the overwhelming majority of the working individuals, be it that they passively tolerate tyranny, be it that they actively support it. Are the masses of people capable of administering society, without being told by politicians or parties what they should do, and how? True, the masses are capable of enjoying freedoms which have already been given them, to do the work which is laid out for them, to be for or against war. But thus far they have not been able to protect work against exploitation, to organized the work process themselves, to further pioneer work, to prevent wars" p. 27 The Mass Psychology of Fascism
