Reasons for Optimism
My fellow proud liberals; ensure all that you meet know that you are a proud liberal. If it weren't for proud liberals our country would be a third rate nation led by despotic republicans. Do you want to be optimistic? Consider:

9-11 Commission (when did he know what?)
Plame Investigation (someone in the bush admin committed a felony)
W-M-FRIGGIN-D (lies)
bush's dismal military record (deserter or coward, take your pick)
little dick cheney and his energy task force
little dick cheney and halliburton
Massive deficits (reagan said they don't matter)
Net loss of jobs in the past 3+ years (not since hoover)
Pickering appointment (solidifying the racist base)
Sanctity of Marriage (conservatives hating gays)
Destruction of the environment

Regardless of our nominee, the election should be a foregone conclusion.

1. Great post but...
...who doesn't have optimism?

We've got an outstanding primary going on where all kinds of views are being vetted. And at the end, the person with the best ideas will lead us to victory in November.

Don't get no better than this.

2. I agree
I think the record turnout in N.H. is a great sign for us.

3. we said this before ...
In election after election we have said something like: "Look what they've done to our country, our environment, our civil rights. Surely the public will not stand for anymore of this outrage." Then we re-elected Reagan, then we elected Bush1 then a slight reprieve and the guy we elected is hounded mercilessly by the opposition - so we get Bush2. Meanwhile the things that they get away with just seem to get more outrageous, the environment gets even worse and we all get that much closer to the point of no return. Make no mistake about it there is a point of no return - environmental, energy and economic disaster are very real looming threats.

I applaud your optimism, but I'm afraid I don't share it.
