O'Really: Chimp AWOL Upcoming
Let's see...Blitzer did a story on this today. Tweety talked about it on his shamefest. Now O'Really.

I'd like to thank Michael Moore for making it safe for Terry McAullife to talk about this.

(I know many won't watch Blotchy Bill, so I'll try to give a fair and balanced account of what he has to say)

2. I am betting OReally will say
"At least Bush signed up with the Air Guard, which is more than blah blah blah blah Clinton blah blah blah blah Gore blah blah and even though Kerry served blah blah blah Bush is a hero blah blah true American patriot blah blah commander in chief blah blah"

6. You're right. He did
bring up Clinton (of course) and he basically called her a hypocrite.

The difference is... Clinton didn't serve in the military.
Bush signed up to serve and didn't show.

Big difference.

I despise O'Reilly so much.

8. Right wingers are easy to predict
Beacause they all say the same thing.

It would be funny if it weren't so pathetic and disgusting.

12. Doesn't matter
I have heard attacks to the contrary. And, hell, so did John McCain and Max Cleland, but the Bush Administration tore them to pieces.

Its sick

13. You're right. So this is good strategery
They pretended Gore was there as a photographer and was essentially Richard Avedon in fatigues, etc. When the truth of Chimpy's un-service is revealed, it'll be like the whole fucking party has had the rug pulled out from under them. I can't wait to see it.

3. She did a good job considering
he would barely let her speak.

He's such an asshole. He wouldn't let her state any facts to the contrary of the argument he upheld. No spin, my ass.

4. Ann Lewis is Dem representative
Edited on Mon Feb-02-04 08:29 PM by tishaLA
Billy says these attacks didn't work with Dole and McAullife should be fired.

Lewis: Chimpy dancing around on aircraft carrier. Says Terry's position is not controversial.

Bill quotes NYT from Nov. 2000 and says Ann doesn't know. Ann says we KNOW he didn't show up. Bill "has to rebut" her assertions (he has to be fair presumably) because chimpy has an honorable discharge. Bill says this is insane to pursue--it has "killed Clark's candidacy" and Americans will repudiate this.

Lewis says she understands how concerned Blotcho is for the democratic party but nonetheless...

Bill: Clinton avoided the draft! You're using a double standard! Chimpy was honorably discharged! I'll let you get the "last word."

Lewis: Early discharge for a rich boy. We can have this debate and let the American people decide.

Blotcho: It's a losing battle.

On edit: Lewis did a very good job. O'Really was trying to hammer her, but he didn't touch her because she has the facts on her side. Too bad Lewis didn't have the conflicting NYT reports about Chimpys' missing service (as reported today and last week on Daily Howler).

9. The "Clinton Avoided the Draft" thing
As far as I could tell, he registered for the draft as he was required to do by law. He then drew a high number in the lottery.

Now, he did try to get out of it. He wrote a letter to his recruiter that basically made him (WJC) out to be a jackass (which is easy to do when you're 22 years old). The recruiter then informed Clinton of his legal obligation and Clinton subjected himself to the Draft like most of the young men of the time.

Years later, "B-1" Bob Dornan tracked down the recruiter, who was severely ill and getting worse. He worked the recruiter into a "patriotic" lather, collected some pithy quotes, and took it on a campaign against Clinton. The recruiter refused to speak about the issue to anyone else again; I believe (but am not sure) that he has since passed away.

Bush, on the other hand, got preferential treatment to get into a TNAG flight school (in spite of lousy grades) and in spite of that, he still decided to duck out on over a year of service.

So much for "patriotism".

10. Bush was worse than that
He got into TNAG despite his piss-poor grades and despite the very long waiting list. He also got the highest commission ever given to a new recruit. Probably had nothing to do with money or his father though... Just like everything else in his life I am sure it was all due to his hard work and credentials...

Cut to commercial.

Good grief.
