Poll question: For whom did you vote in 2000?
Let's try and quantify just how many Nader vs. Gore voters are here. A poll will allow you to keep your anonymity, unlike a regular thread, thus preventing this from turning into a Greens vs. Dems flame war (of which I am a longtime veteran).

4. Ok, I admit it
I voted for Nader. *hangs head in shame* ;-)

I was a Gore/Dem supporter, but since I lived in Texas, I knew my vote wouldn't matter. So, I participated in a vote swap with someone in Minnesota or Wisconsin (don't remember which). Wonder if they held up their end of the bargain?

His "partner" was in Oregon. Gore won Oregon, so it must have worked out. I don't recommend vote trading in 2004. The Freepers will try too mess it all up.

14. Nope
Not to turn this into a Green bashing thread, but I wouldn't vote for Nader if my life depended on it. He pissed me off when he broke his promise not to campaign in the tight states. I had already agreed to the vote swap by then, so stuck to it. Nader is a wonderful consumer advocate. But hell will freeze, thaw and re-freeze before that man will get my vote again.

I don't hold that against the Greens, though. Just Nader.

7. nader but I "switched" votes
A friend in Florida of all places wanted to vote for Nader but didn't want bush to win. I live in VA - which was going to go solidly bush that year (but it will be democratic in 2004) So I voted Nader and she voted Gore.

and look at July 2 briefing for some fun.

9. Gore
I like much of the Green platform, but not Nader. I also disliked Bush with a passion and couldn't give a losing candidate my vote. And I'll vote for whomever wins the nomination this time - even if Lieberman does. Lieberman isn't so far to the right that I'd mess around in such a crucial situation.

16. I voted for Gore and McCain
I voted McCain in the repug primary, then Gore in the general election.

Anything to give the Shrub a good whackin'.

Geesh. Woulda, coulda, shoulda.

If only McCain would have won the primary. A Gore vs. McCain debate series would have been something to see...not to mention that McCain would not, IMO, have conspired to steal the election, thus giving us the President Gore we rightly deserved.

woulda coulda shoulda......

19. I voted strategically for McCain in the TX GOP primary
Why? Because I figured the more votes he got in *'s backyard the more embarassing it would be for *. McCain got 8% in Texas. Problem is that vote got me on phone and mailing lists for the Texas Republican Party!! I still get calls even after voting in the Democratic primary in 2002.

I was 19 years old, and despite the fact that I was probably better informed than 80% of the voting public about the candidates, I hadn't registered in time. My state went for Gore, so I don't feel as guilty, but it was a mistake I will never repeat again.

I saw that Gore had no chance in my state, so I threw my support to Nader. It was simply a political statement. I doubt that it was heard by the local populace, but I tried.

The locals seem to vote for the person that their preacher tells them to vote for.

I live amid a flock of Sheeple.

35. Gore
I, too, was living in Louisiana (New Orleans) in 2000. I voted for Gore, because I had the impression that he had a chance of winning as Mary Landrieu did. Nonetheless, I was sorely disappointed.

However, I have since moved to San Francisco, and I'm not leaving. If the rest of the country took San Francisco's lead, Bush would be out on his ass in a hurry. I'm not holding my breath, but I'm willing to bust my ass on the 2004 campaign to try and oust that impostor.
