Feel free to pass this one on if you agree. I hate e-mail forwards but I like the perspective and it's funny and sad at the same time.
Perspective on Janetboob "The Federal Communications Commission has now ordered an inquiry into the incident, blasting it as deplorable, classless, and crass."
Well, ripping Janet Jackson's outfit open and exposing her breast was tasteless and crass, and it was a publicity stunt, but for God's sake, it was 2 seconds of partly obscured breast. Now, I absolutely love America, but get over it people!!!!! The last time I checked, it was just a breast. Every woman has two breasts. They used to be used for feeding children, but apparently have become strictly sexual and offensive in the United States. Last year, a policemen arrested a woman for breast-feeding her child in an empty room at a New York library. Could that have happened anywhere else? Yeah-definitely-In Saudi Arabia, Iraq, or Iran maybe. I think they stone people to death there too.
Let's put this all in perspective: 2 Seconds of Breast VS. Christianity-- "In all types of ancient art medium, the female breast was usually exposed. Even in the Christian realm, paintings, sculptures, and drawings commonly and frequently depicted females with one or more uncovered breasts. The Sistine Chapel is adorned with female breasts and ancient artifacts depicting nudity. These things seem to have far greater shock value in modern times than the artists would have believed possible in their time period." 2 Seconds of Breasts VS. Violence- "While the nation's in uproar over the appearance of Janet Jackson's breast on TV for TWO seconds, a study by the National Coalition on Television Violence shows that American children are exposed, on average, to an estimated 8,000 murders and 100,000 acts of violence on television by the time the child completes elementary school." These numbers double to 200,000 acts of violence and 16,000 murders by the time they graduate from high school. Most children watch an average of 3 to 4 hours of TV per day, approximately 28 hours each week. Watching TV is the #1 after-school activity for 6 to 17 year olds.
2 Seconds of Breasts VS. the World- All of the following countries either allow public breastfeeding or topless sunbathing or both, but this list is by no means complete and final: Bulgaria, Venezuela, Africa, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Australia, Croatia, Mexico, Brazil, Thailand, Great Britain, Greece, France, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, Italy...
2 Seconds of Breasts VS. other TV- Nine out of 10 food ads on Saturday morning TV are for sugary cereals, candy, salty snacks, fatty fast foods, and other junk food. Teens see 100,000 alcohol commercials before they reach drinking age. Children who watch 4 or more hours of TV per day spend less time on school work, have poorer reading skills, play less well with friends, and have fewer hobbies than children who watch less TV.
So, we had 2 seconds to see a sunshiny nipple and this has more people talking than a Presidential election, a war, a great Super Bowl, and a bunch of offensive and/or idiotic Super Bowl ads, among other things. Don't be an ignorant moron! The next time I want attention for a new movie, I'm going on a national show and exposing my hairy breast to everybody! I'll be sure to wear a nipple ring, too.
Go and check out Escape from New York one more time and Relax. Pass it on!
