With each passing day, it's readily apparent that the California Democratic Party is hellbent on destroying itself from within. A few choice examples:
1) Of course everyone knows about the recall. This anti-democracy jihad being conducted by the Republican party here has the elected democratic state leadership falling all over themselves to assist. Take Secretary of State Shelley's failure to do anything about the illegal signature gatherers or to even attempt to clarify the actual deadline controversy within the judicial system. But, this isn't really surprising since it is Secretary Shelley who last May decided that State law regarding filing deadlines for the November 2004 Presidential election were irrelevent and therefore George Bush should be included on the ballot, even though the Republican party convention designed to wrap themselves in 9/11 glory during their NYC convention would mean they would miss the September 1 filing deadline law. Absurdly, Shelley in his rush to get "W" on the ballot doesn't even seem to think that some Republican other than "w" would even be on the ballot ... (

2) Democratic Lt. Governor Bustamante deliberately set the special election as late in the required 60 day period as possible in order to give Republicans weeks in order to formalize their challenge and to allow a multitude of crackpots and other losers to pay the $3500 filing fee in order to clog the ballot and diminish Gov Davis' chances.
It's time to throw out all of the wussie democratic bums in the great Republic of California and get some real Democrats elected who will stand up to the Republicans! God help us otherwise.
