Conservative on C-Span: Bush shouldn't have said "I'm not gonna lose."
I didn't get the guy's name, but I think it said he was from the "National Review"? Anyway, he said, paraphrasing, that people should say to him that in a democracy it's up to the people, so he should have acknowledged that and said, "It's up to the voters."

Great point! Who does Bush think he is to make such a statement? Everybody should jump all over him for that. He has no right to assume he won't lose! I'm sure the psycho needs to think he won't, because he will be a basket case, but he will have to just "get over it!"

1. I just saw just excerpts on Dateline NBC
I thought shrub sounded like a fool. Every question he was hesitate on. I thought Russert did a fantastic job.

7. Disagree....
Russert hardly ever used tough follow up questions...maybe a few times but certainly not enough. Wail till Kerry gets interrogated by the whore...you will see a huge difference!

8. Like I said I only saw a select few excerpts
I was a bum and slept in late and only caught bits and pieces of it. But what I did see I think Shrub sucked and Russert was good.

18. exactly, has anyone seen the transcript's from clinton interview.
I would be curious to see how many times russert hit him with the follow up question. when russert asks the same question over and over again it gives the impression that you are dodging the question.

russert asked tough questions, but did not follow-up on them. I know that he has to be careful not to look like he is badgering the president, but he did'nt come close to pressuring bush.

2. Flashback...
2000 election when the networks called Florida for Gore...The rethuglicans screamed "NO!".

The fix is in.

My husband and I stared at each other in disbelief when he made that statement on MTP.

6. Bush was not the brightest to say he would win...
I don't think he will. In fact, I'm almost sure he won't; and as much as I'd like it to be a full blow-out, I'll settle fir a squeaker.

The RW has been unusually quiet; this may, or not be, an ominous sign. But I know that when the farmers in NE started to quiet down about bush, he was in deep crap. If he loses the faithful in the Heartland, all else is gone. these people have voted GOP for so long, it by rote now; but the silence is deafening. No support for bush, at all.

10. The most cynical spin on this...
trying to see it as someone in his camp might see it: even if he *does* know something (Diebold, whatever), it was D-U-M-M to talk like that on national television. The smart Machiavellian would've said something like, "Well, I'm going to do my best to avoid that scenario (winsome aw-shucks smile). All I can say (Serious Face) is that inside or outside the White House, I will do my best to continue to do my part in getting this great country of our back on the right track." He came off kind of like Evil Cartoon Mastermind there.

I do wonder if Bush really *knows* he knows, or if he just *thinks* he knows. He surely is an entitled sumbitch, isn't he?

14. Could just be his religious mania telling him
that God will fix it for him. Although he knows how "lucky" certain events will be for him. I am starting to feel optimistic that enough people are getting wise to their tricks and hopefully the Democratic nominee will be prepared for the tricks.

11. Russert was tougher than I expected...

In a scripted, staged, edited, contentless, pathetic, whoring kind of way!

15. I wish Russert Had Asked...
"Did you yourself read the entire National Intelligence Estimate prior to the war?" And if Bush said no, Russert should ask "Well since there appear to have been some problems, have you read it now?"

13. Like the Generals and Grassley saying they're "sure" about OBL
Even if they KNOW (just like shrub might "know" about the secret vote stealing plan), how freaking stupid is it to come out and say it?

16. The stare was scary
It was a cold, hard stare with a matter of fact statement. "I'm not going to lose." I was stunned. The look he gave wasn't confidence, but almost...threatening, that Russert would even suggest such a thing. (And Bush was even coached and had the questions beforehand!)

Not very presidential, IMO. ;)
