Bush Report Offers Positive Outlook on Jobs
Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 07:07 AM by RC
Wading into an election-year debate, President Bush's top economist yesterday said the outsourcing of U.S. service jobs to workers overseas is good for the nation's economy.

Shipping jobs to low-cost countries is the "latest manifestation of the gains from trade that economists have talked about" for centuries, said N. Gregory Mankiw, chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers. Just as U.S. consumers have enjoyed lower prices from foreign manufacturers, so too should they benefit from services being offered by overseas companies that have lower labor costs, he said.

"I know there will be jobs in the future," Mankiw told reporters at a news conference, "because I know this is a vibrant economy, a dynamic economy."

So after all of our jobs are out sourced over seas, who is supposed to buy what these companies are producing?

How and on what is the average family supposed to survive after being laid off from the burger flipping job because not enough people can afford to buy the product?

Why is no one calling the unelected administration on this? How can we have a strong economy if there is high unemployment?

Why isn't this administration being investigated for drug use and reality bending mental health problems?

Come on people, our country is being flushed down the tubes and too many are enjoying the ride.

2. A Couple Jobs Here And There...Who'll Notice?
I hope this regime continues to underestimate the mess they've made of this economy and play their typical day is night; black is white games. 3 million people who had jobs, or should we up that number by 3 fold or more to those who had better jobs in 2000 than today aren't quite jiving with the big economic lie this regime continues to spew.

Here's hoping we get a Dumbya Kodak moment, like daddy, where he does a photo-op in a Supermarket and is amused by the scanner or tries to be a "regular guy"...this could make for some great video. Sheesh, a shill scribe reported last week he ended up paying *'s tab at a photo-op in New Hampshire. Cheap, arrogant bastard.

3. It's great for the economy if
you're looking into staffing a country house. With all the people out of work, there are plenty of people desperate enough to work at Wal Mart, McDonalds, or go in for domestic service, which has crappy benefits and few days off.

4. we'll become a country of insurance salespeople!
I think in the future, it looks like we'll be exporting insurance, financial services, banking and the like - look at big companies like Citigroup & AIG...

5. They spout crap like this and call Democrats elitists!
They don't give a rats-ass about the people hurt by this out-sourcing: Why care about them? They're nobodies.

Bush 1 adviser Boskin said it didn't matter if Americans made computer chips or potato chips in a similar situation.

The Democrats ought to be able to rip these morons to shreds on this stuff. Will they?

6. Well, consider what they mean by "good for the economy"
Just like tax cuts for the wealthy, a recovering stock market after terrible lows, and a very weak dollar are good for their economy, so are the outscourcing of jobs.

It all comes down to the same thing:

If you are a CEO or if you make all of your money just by manipulating money, then times are good.

Hell, you are already fabulously wealthy, the government just gave you a shitload of money with which you can buy up the stock market for literally pennies on the dollar, and now your stocks will do even better because the companies found a good way to get cheap labor.

For once, Bush is being too honest.
