1. Do you know something we don't?
Is Daschle actually planning on resigning? What's the scoop?

2. Ya know...
I feel for the guy. He's in a conservative state and needs to stay to the right side of the Dem party, but that's exactly why he should not be minority leader. Our congressional leadership needs to come from safe democratic areas. That's one reason why Pelosi has been successful. As soon as Tom wins re-election this fall, there needs to be a new minority leader.

Gep's weakness was probably because he comes from a compromise district, too. I agree that someone from a safer area can be more demanding and stronger. Pelosi really lines them up and demands loyalty. She can do it, because she can walk the talk.

6. How About Durbin???
Gotta put in a plug for my Senator. I'll bet every Illinois DU'er will join with me on this.

He's been working hards behind the seens as Whip and Illinois is becoming more and more a safe state.

Daschele got into a whirlwind and tried to be too nice...now we know that doesn't work anymore. We need someone who compromises from strength, not weakness.
