Bowling for Columbine
I am sure folks on here have seen the following rebuttal site (or something like it) purporting to show the truth about the movie's contentions:

http://www.hardylaw.net/Truth_About_Bowling.html

My question is whether anyone on here has seen any follow-ups to the rebuttals contained on the site above? If so, I would appreciate you sharing those links for me. I am "conversing" with some right wing whackos that take the site linked above as the gospel according to St. 30-06. Thanks!

gospel according to St. 30-06 hahahhaa. Im using that.

Michael Moore's job is to piss them off, so I say he has done a stellar job. The joke's on them.

2. the main contention of the film is that Americans are scared
they live in constant fear of their own shadow.

Hard to argue with that contention. If they want to quibble over details, fine, but this contention is impossible to ignore.

3. main contention
I couldnt agree more on your point. On those lines, two nights ago I finished reading Glassner's 'Culture of Fear,' which I understand is discussed/referred to in the film. The book is a very good read and I could not agree more with Glassner's contentions that our country thrives on a false set of fears.

8. key quote from Mike
Edited on Tue Feb-24-04 12:35 PM by soundgarden1
here's the key quote from Mike himself regarding the accusations:

"Well, guess what. Total number of lawsuits to date against me or my film by the NRA? NONE. That's right, zero. And don't forget for a second that if they could have shut this film down on a technicality they would have. But they didn't and they can't – because the film is factually solid and above reproach. In fact, we have not been sued by any individual or group over the statements made in "Bowling for Columbine?" Why is that? Because everything we say is true – and the things that are our opinion, we say so and leave it up to the viewer to decide if our point of view is correct or not for each of them. "
