I couldn't believe Shrub's statement on gay marriage licenses being granted in San Francisco, that he was "troubled", and would do everything he could do and more to "protect the sanctity of marriage", blahblahblahblahblahblahblah.

Actually, knowing him, I could, but I'm still having trouble fully digesting it, his breathtaking gall in making such a statement when he's said no such thing about little things like, oh, say, I don't know, the hundreds of American soldiers who are dead or wounded and thousands of Iraqi civilians who are dead or wounded because of his blatant lies and manipulations in order to get us into a war for his own political and imperial ambitions and profits for the oil companies;

the horrendous treatment of American soldiers in regards to cutting of benefits, failure to provide them with the necessary equipment, charging them for their food while recovering from wounds, refusal to allow them to leave after their enlistment time is up, refusing to allow them to speak their minds, and staging a "rescue" effort for propaganda purposes;

the three million and counting jobs that have been lost in the past three years and the lack of replacements, effectively making his the worst job record since Hoover during the Depression and then having the unmitigated gall to blame Clinton;

the deliberate leak of a CIA agent to vindictively pay back her husband, who wouldn't go along with the fabrication of evidence for WMD to justify a pre-emptive invasion of a two-bit, tin-horn country that wasn't any threat at all to our national security and that had no ties to Al-Quada and nothing to do with 9/11, thus creating a tremendous potential for harm to her, her family, and colleagues and causing the deaths of some of her colleagues;

the ever-growing ranks of the uninsured and the deaths of at least 18,000 of them that could be directly traced to being uninsured, and the use of extreme, rare, and damn near medieval collection tactics by hospitals and doctors against those who could least afford it because they had the nerve to get sick with pneumonia or viral meningitis or a miscarriage, etc.;

the blatant and willful destruction of the environment and huge rollback of protective standards, thus allowing the increasing pollution of the air we breathe, the water we drink and bathe in, the food we eat, and the ground our food is grown in;

the blatant and deliberate pandering and kowtowing to corporations and their needs at the expense of everyone and everything else;

the blatant and deliberate shifting of the tax burden away from those who can most afford it and onto the shoulders of those who can least afford it;

the ongoing, deliberate and willful destruction of public education, public infrastructure and services, starving them of funds necessary to do the job adequately, and the rush to privatize everything for the benefit of the few at the expense of the many (actually, that's his slogan, the benefit of the few at the expense of the many);

the deliberate and willful destruction of the economic systems and infrastructure that, in Paul Krugman's words, "make life livable for those without wealth", which is pretty much all of us;

the blatant, willful, and deliberate stealing of the presidency, thinking nothing of thwarting the will of the people because he was somehow "entitled" to it, and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.

NONE of this shit "troubles" our Great Esteemed Leader, aka the Boy King Impostor, aka the First Idiot, aka the Commander-in-Thief, aka the worst and most dangerous president this great country has ever had.

So what does "trouble" him? That couples who love each other and are committed to each other, many of whom have been together for years, even decades (FIFTY THREE YEARS in the case of one of the lesbian couples, how many hetero marriages last that long?????????) were given (GASP! SHOCK! HORROR! OH, THE SIN, THE INDIGNITY!) marriage licenses! CAN YOU FUCKING BELIEVE THAT? THAT is what "troubles" him?

Good God Almighty, if he manages to fool the people again or actually manages to steal another election, we are REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY in trouble! I'm hetero and fully pissed off, I can just imagine how I'd feel if I were gay! WE MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST GET HIM OUT OF THE WH!

1. Republicans are just plain mean.
That's the reason for every ridiculous statement they make and for every single hateful thing they do.

2. That's for sure!
And what really saddens me is that they're making it safe for the ignorant and mean-spirited to crawl out from under their rocks and show their true colors.
