Comment and question about Constitutional amend.- Gay marriage
Say that Bush gets 2/3 of Congress to pass this thing, then it goes to the states, it would only take 14 states (1/4) to not pass it for it to go down.

I just don't think it will fly. Even if Congress chickens out, I just don't think there will be 37 states that will go to the trouble to spend the money for an election and then pass it.

What states would likely not pass it?
I'll start
California
Mass
Hawaii

1. They don't want it to pass
They want the issue. It's money in the bank to them in a lot of places to be able to pretend to fight against Gay Marriage.

2. I Hope Youre Right
It should be very frightening to everyone that a sitting president whose party is the majority in both houses -- is suggesting a constitutional ammendment to further a religious point of view. Unbelievable that they would suggest/embrace this idea.

3. Connecticut would not approve it.
I don't think Vermont would either.

4. this is a ploy and a diversion
Edited on Tue Feb-24-04 07:50 PM by Marianne
there is no way a constitutional ammendment will happen, but it will be in the headlines for days. People will be discussing those "homosexuals" who want to get married, rather than educating themselves as to the real politics of the day--that is the stupidity of the Bush Iraq war and invasion and his lies, his AWOL and many other things that are ongoing lies by Bush.

No--right now, Americans are bombarded with the scandal, and the "shock" as the fatassed Laura Bush would describe it, of cheap "homosexual"marriage, and this is what John and Jane Doe will discuss--perhaps even argue over as they sip their morning coffee.

We should not let him get away with this diversion. The subject needs to be closed. It is not that important right now, and neither is Gibson's movie .

Bush lied and killed ten thousand innocent people. Can anyone imagine ten thousand people ? Try.

What is Gibson's Holloywood production, or two gay people wanting legal protection, compared to that?
