Poll: do you know a single woman...
Edited on Sat Aug-02-03 07:24 PM by ButterflyBlood
who was not planning to vote for Bush but now says she will due to his flight jacket stunt?

Does anyone out there know of even one? With the way Limbaugh and the Freepers are talking about how this will seal up the soccer mom vote for Bush I'm sure someone here will at least know of one.

*edit* note: single does not refer to maritial status

1. Why would that make them vote for him lol
Like do Limbaugh and Freepers know what women want? a la the movie, or what I think it could be, is that that Limbaugh and the freepers not only want to be GWB but they want him, yet they are big homophobes.

2. I personally don't know ANY women who are voting for Shrub
...except my mother-in-law, and she's a Doctor Laura-listening Freeper.

Honestly, all my female friends didn't vote for him the first time, and won't this time either. Yeah, the company I keep is pretty liberal all the way around, but there are a couple of moderates in that group.

3. No. Apparently his "manly" appeal is limited to white males.
How would Rush know how women are thinking?

18. Well Rush is on his third marriage
So that is 3 women he has been aroud personally. Hard telling who the first two who divoced him are voting. Or how that gay guy in Pittsburgh is voting, the one who used to help him pick and buy his clothes when he was 'Jeff Christie' on Pittsburgh radio. I wonder how the vice cops who picked him up in the gay cruisers area of Pittsburgh are going to vote?

6. Not a single or married woman.
I don't know anyone, especially women, who like Bush. But then I try my best not to be around freepers that much.

9. I have not heard one woman
say that she envies Laura. My niece, who did vote for him in 2000, says the "flyboy thing" was the wrong way to go and she will not be voting for him again. Her wing of the family has a lot of military vets and she is just fed up.

10. I know one woman
Who voted for Dumbya in 2000 who said that Dumbya's crotch was "packed" (meaning he had something stuffed in there besides his tiny shrub). She does not plan to vote for him in 2004.

14. Unless Bush donned a flight jacket & drove a mini-van
I don't see how these two are related...

Does anyone?

On a strange note, the only woman at all that I have ever heard refer to W. as physically attractive is

believe it or not

Roseanne Barr.

I love Roseanne to pieces but I found myself questioning her sanity after that. She said in an an interview that he had the same kind of attraction as Ronald Reagan (???????) and her words were "I respect his wife, but if he weren't married, I'd be putting on my cowboy boots and coming around." WTF?

19. Turgid Bush
I think women can tell when a guy gets more turned on by killing something than he does by being with a woman. Trust me. It's just a feeling I get about the guy. And he looks like the kind of guy you have to lie to afterwards so you don't destroy his tender but inflated ego.

Top Gun? Whoohoo...bring on big boy!

20. I have a couple of friends who are my mother's age (mid-eighties)

who voted for Bush* in 2000, probably because they hoped it would help them financially (understandable for older people with a fixed income, knowing that their savings could be gone after a few months in a nursing home) and also because Bush* claims to be pro-life.

They haven't turned against him yet but we've got a year to go.

21. No, but overheard at the hair salon ....
" ...You know, he's got so much to handle, to deal with - all over the world - since 9/11 and everything ... and now they're trying to blame this intelligence nonsense on him ... I feel sorry for him because he's really a good man, doing his best, but look at the times he's president in ..." :puke:

I wanted to lean over the wall and say something like "Well if he and his greedy oil buddies would keep their paws off other countries, we wouldn't have 'so much to handle' ..." but I knew it would have fallen on deaf ears and an empty cranium.

22. Not due to his flight suit, only some fundies who think everyone else
is directly responsible for the deaths of 3 cell organisms. I don't know one woman who thinks Dorko is cute... and I hang around a lot of soccer fields, basketball courts, volleyball courts....

24. I can report two more lost because of it
the wife of my wing-nut colleague told me confidentially at a party recently that she thought it was "vulgar" and furthermore, this good decent (and I mean that) Texas Baptist soccer mother of 4 was sure "they had him put something in his pants!" Although "they" made him do it, our gal thought that he was old enough to say no---"so, he must have thought it was a good idea." Apparently I gathered that she thinks that Bush* has gotten "conceited"
(and no, she doesn't know my politics, it was a "woman to woman" confidence as she termed it!) And, yes, I sincerely agreed that "he really seems to think he is something special!"

And, good news on the family front: my sister who totes three younguns to various team sports finally has had enough. Her father in law, vet of Vietnam, was enraged by the "stunt" and has raved so much about the indecency of it that she's now non-stop repeating his (somewhat wrong but ...) AWOL record. Seems Dad heard it at the ...believe it or not...VFW hall!!!!! The carrier "landing" was not a hit with the vets there as many are disabled and the VA cuts have them in a frenzy.

So, my guess is that these two absolutely great examples of two areas of the country and different social milieu are a better barometer than these odd men who swoon over those flyboy pics when we talk about "soccer mom votes." I'll bet on these two sane women anyday.

27. Even the only Republican woman I know won't vote for him.
Aside from the future mothers of the master race like Ann Coulter, most women know sense from crap.

That's why the Republicans do so poorly with women. Do great with white men, though.
