Sincere Question
I always ignored the "Hillary as worse than antichrist" stuff as just televangelists and limpballs clones who love to run their mouths. I didn't believe it was more than a few idiots here and there in the media. I thought it was too stupid to be worth paying attention.

Through a horrifying turn of events, I've found myself in East Texas. Here, Ms. Clinton is hated worse than Bill's Penis. If Hillary and Satan were strolling down Main Street, she wouldn't make it a block, and Satan wouldn't even be noticed until she was dismembered and the pieces burned.

My Question:

Why? What did the First Lady do to irritate the freepers? I can't think of a damned thing she ever did or said that wasn't at least nominally sane. All I ever heard was an intelligent and articulate woman who I'd vote for for President without hesitation. I don't remember her ranting like a democratic Anthrax Annie, nor do I remember a her starring in a live-TV abortion, nor do I recall her urinating on churchmen. So why is she such a pariah?

1. Re: What did the First Lady do to irritate the freepers?

Hillary Clinton is a strong, independent woman who refuses to be subservient to men. What's more, she's a liberal and a feminist. That's more than enough to irritate your typical freeper!

Of course, if Hillary Clinton were a conservative Republican, the freepers would adore her....

4. I guess I'm naive, but
strong, independent, liberal feminist isn't that big a deal. I'm sure there are millions of women who can be described that way. The people around here got a serious hate on for Hillary. I mean, just say the name and watch people go up in flames. It's weird.

2. Because she is an ambitious...
...opinionated woman, who is just as much a political animal as her husband. They really hate that. They feel she looks "down her nose" at women who choose a more "traditional" role. Their hatred of her is pure emotional irrationality. I've not heard a damned one of them articulate clearly their reasons for hating her, unless one considers the above, that she is an "ambitious, opinionated woman" as a clear reason, which I don't...

hating her."

Which is my problem too. Even when I asked. All I get is some variation on "She's SO Evil!" Weird.

3. I can't imagine hating anyone that much.
Maybe unless someone killed someone in my family. I think you have to examine anyone who wakes up with such venom in their hearts.

8. Now THAT would be nice.
A stand-up, clear front runner I could get behind and stay behind. I'm trying not to get my hopes up that Gore gets drafted in the fall. If Hillary were to step into the race, I might even turn my back on the President.

7. It goes waaaaay back to her younger days,
when she was one of the lawyers helping to organize the info that helped bring down Nixon(from her book).

9. I didn't know that...
It explains some things though. Like why the Cabal set her up for this hatred. But it still doesn't explain why a mousy, introverted, ultra-conservate, bible-thumping woman gets red in the face and starts yelling when she hears the word "Hillary". (true story)

visceral reaction to her name.

"Billary" were blamed for most everything going wrong, and even more things going right that were twisted around by the media fiends.

17. That's it
As far as I'm concerned, most of the blame goes to Rush. He had a hardon for her and harangued the airwaves daily with stories of lesbianism, secret affairs with V Foster, a soft exterior masking ruthless ambition for power, etc. He blamed her for the Travel Office affair, hiring Craig Livingstone -- she was just another way to get at Bill.

Then there was also that idiot Aldrich, who insisted she adorned the White House Christmas tree with drug and sex paraphernalia.

12. it's way more than Hillary being an independent woman
Edited on Sat Aug-02-03 08:03 PM by NJCher
Remember, these bushco people have tons of money and they have the resources to research how to turn these red neck types into whatever they deem useful.

It's pretty amazing, when you think about it. Just look at how marketing and mind manipulation has taken a big, overpriced hulk of steel (the SUV) that gets zip for gas mileage and turned it into a sales bonanza. These things are ugly as sin, have no redeeming features after you look behind the marketing lies, and yet millions of people are lining up to fork over hard-earned dollars to buy them.

Think how they've gotten these very same people to hate their fellow citizen for getting a welfare check but these very same people don't think twice about corporate welfare.

If you can do mind manipulation with a big ugly hulk of steel, think what you can do with Hillary Clinton!

Cher

on edit: I was just reading another thread after I wrote this and found this example of how republicans engender hatred toward fellow citizens at this thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=102&topic_id=48933&mesg_id=48933

The above discusses an anti-immigrant poem placed on a republican
Web site.

14. People who don't like Hillary are generally misogynistic bigots
Yeah, big generalization, I know, but when you listen to one, you come up with the same basic boneheaded macho sub-moron gash-hating primitives.

Bigots often want to render large groups of "others" dismissable because they're afraid of a fair playing field. They should be; they're usually inferior, so they need to restrict the competition.

They hate her for being forthright. They find this terrifying. They don't find this sexy (now THAT'S true idiocy) and they think that's the only thing women exist for. She had the gall to not quiver and cry when her man was shown to be a heel; HOW CAN YOU CONTROL A WOMAN LIKE THAT? Danger, Will Robinson. She had the ovaries to blurt out the term "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy", and they hate her for pulling back the curtain.

They fear her, because if subjected to the shame they've slathered all over her for years, they'd slink to obscurity, and they loathe anyone so strong.

Why do women hate her? Mom taught me years ago that the biggest impediments to women in business were other women.

Stepford Wives always hate self-made professional women. It might force them into the workplace. (It was women in Texas who finally brought down the ERA, lest we forget.) It might allow other women to succeed and be appealing to their cloyed and dominated menfolk. How dare that bitch not beat the living snot out of her cheating husband; now we'll never be able to control ours, and then who'll take out the garbage?

She's scary to those who fear.

18. Sad, she has been demonized by the Limbaugh types
I heard her speak at a church in my town regarding the death of a young man named Adam Darling. I will never forget her compassion, her composure, and the true felt kindness of her words.

She is loved and Freeper hell can go straight there in my opinion.
