Are they worried that Americans have a bad case of Ayatollahitis perhaps? I suspect that when the American people realize that over 500 American soldiers have died to remove Saddam only to put the Ayatollah Of Iraq in charge of the place they won't be too pleased. I think we should mention this fact to others when discussing Bush's policies to friends and other people we know? The tip off is that the US media has been told to avoid using the word "Ayatollah" in any headlines?

Ayatollah 'objected to Iraq plan'

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3538361.stm

Shia politicians in Iraq are to consult their spiritual leader before agreeing to sign any new interim constitution.

Objections by Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani to a draft agreement are understood to be have been behind the dispute that wrecked a planned ceremony on Friday.

An elaborate event was planned to allow the Iraqi Governing Council to mark a key point in the transfer of power.

But five Shia Council members did not turn up and a rescheduled event is not expected until Monday at the earliest.

1. I'd say it's because too many people remember the old

Ayatollah and the Americans capyured by Iranians back in the Carter years, and the media (read: sponsors who support Bush) are afraid they'll make a connection and start to care about what's going on over there.

7. I think we are about to find out how friendly the ayatollah is very soon
The ayatollah is the man behind the curtain. In Iraq when he talks people listen.
