EDINBURG -- With the Tuesday primaries less than a week away, three South Texas campaign workers are accused of harassing elderly voters who requested ballots by mail.
The Monitor newspaper in McAllen reports complaints were filed with Hidalgo County elections officials against three paid campaign workers. The newspaper identified them as Elizabeth Bouleris of Weslaco, Elvira Rios of McAllen and Elvira Martinez of McAllen.
Rios denies any wrongdoing, saying she had always been respectful of elderly voters.
Other South Texas voting irregularities reported so far this year include a request last week of a mail-in ballot for a dead voter. Four people in Hidalgo County said their ballots were already sealed when they received them. A Mercedes voter requested a mail-in ballot that was sent somewhere else.
