The Old Man gave John Kerry Good advice ...
and I could scarcely believe it.

John McLaughlin and the group this weekend. What should Kerry do between now and Labor Day? Continual hammering at Bush will soon find itself on page 18A so what now?

McLaughlin had the right idea. A methodical tour of the entire country stopping in virtually every seperate media market and spending time with the local reporters, print and electronic. The local press would jump on it BIG TIME for him and all for free. The old man noted that reality would take care of Bush for Kerry ... i.e. circumstances which almost always have more to do with the winner than anything else when an incumbent is involved.

This way, Bush will not be engaged on a national level by Kerry for a while and Kerry would have the opportunity to stealthily gobble up tons of free media ... almost all of it positive, while Bush languishes in the glare of his own failures.

I like it.

2. A lot of old-time conservatives are angry with Bush
They feel he has actually betrayed traditional conservative values, like fiscal integrity and small government and isolationism.

Pat Buchanan hates W and McLaughlin likes Pat.

3. If that would work - go for it- but I don't trust McLauglin to "help" a
Dem with good advice.

4. He seems to have been turning on Bush lately
Seems he agrees more with Eleanor Clift than Tony Blankley. Of course, Blankley is a GOP apologist living in lala land.

7. That prediction was shocking! I had to make sure I heard him right.
Right out of the blue, without hesitation, unequivocal, and confident. It was great!

"John Kerry will be elected President of the United States"

I like the sound of that.

12. But who will the Supreme Court "select"? That's the question.
Isn't it?

If it's close enough in some states, the Electronic Voting without Verified Voter Paper Ballot could swing the election.

His impressive credentials and deadly serious demeanor simply blow Bush out of the water. And will.

Please join Edwards in supporting Kerry now. I was for Clark, but there's a lot at stake in this election, and Kerry's my guy now.

13. It's a great idea! A modern day "Whistlestop tour"!
If it worked for my man Harry Truman, why not now?

Interviews on all news shows, especially MTV.

Guest appearances on all talk shows.

Rallies at as many college campuses as possible.

Going to as many small markets as humanly and financially possible and holding town meetings, giving interviews to the local "Podunk Times."

State fairs, auto races, you name it.

If he does all of this, I'm thinking he could put Bush away.

15. Someone suggest he name a shadow cabinet
Thought that was a pretty good idea. Name his major secretaries right now--defense, state, education, labor, etc., and that way they're all out there levelling a continual attack on all kinds of levels. Not just Kerry alone trying to grab headlines--I agree, the press will get tired of covering whatever his latest position statement is. But the idea of a "shadow cabinet" would be newsworthy, make him look like he's already on top of things, ready to take the reins, and also work the old "aura of inevitibility" thing Rove is so dependent on.

21. Raiding Texas Yesterday Was A Good Start
I think this is going to be a part of the Democratic playbook...but it's not time to use this chip.

Right now, after nearly two months of non-stop Democratic coverage, the media wants to let RoveCo. have it's opening shot...get the partisan blood boiling so it overflows in ratings all summer and fall. Almost expect the polls to dictate the coverage...with the one who is down (as long as we're talking within the margin of error) getting the first/last word...and right now that's RoveCo.

I agree, get Kerry into every market in this country...doing town halls and hitting the TV newsrooms and newspaper board rooms. I know this could be an effective tool in borderline and even solid RED states where RoveCo. would have to do something in turf they felt was safe.

It'd be fun to see Kerry pop up in Texas, Florida, Colorado and even Georgia at least once a month...going right into the heart of GOOPdom and pick up on yet another regime lie that effects the country and that area. Don't expect Bunnypants to try to walk into a solid Democratic area, yet alone go into a town hall or unscripted photo-op...this contrast will wear very nicely come the fall.

22. That will do it
That and if we can KEEP hammering after those three men are done with their little tour then it will leave Bush stymied and forced to spend money EVERYWHERE instead of where he wants to, and because we have more soft than he does and probably can raise a larger army than he can that will hurt him more than us.

24. McLaughlin has been anti-bush and anti-Iraq war
The last couple of times that I have seen him he sounds like a real conservative. He blasts Bush with a passion backed up with evidence and historical context.

McLaughlin to Tony Blankly " have you been brainwashed?" LOL
Right after Tony compared Rumsfield to Churchill.
