To us at DU, this is wonderful to be seeing a tough and necessary hearing on Haiti. To others, it may appear to be an angry African American caucus picking on against the poor white males*.

This is a HUGE issue should have every representative present.

Why is it so often the Black Caucus has to stand alone? Our Congress is allowing it to be more of an issue of racial specficity than the coup and overall injustice that it is.

I did love that Rep. Lee made the comparison of Aristide to the leader of Afghanistan. That was very important.

but they were some of the first to go. remember, not all are part of the committee but were invited to come because they have interest in it. i guess those in committee spoke first. and the other democrats kicked ass j ust as great as the members of the cbc. especially robert wexler.

And Rangel's extracting that answer from Noriega - that unless Aristide offered to resign, the U.S. would not have whisked him away and saved his life - absolutely brilliant.
