Low interest rates hurt employment.
This is just my opinion I haven't read it anywhere.

If Corporation Boards and CEOs are only loyal to their Corporations and if the unemployment rate goes down Greenspan intends to raise interest rates because the economy would then be in full recovery. This would immediately cause common stock prices to plummet because the return on investment would be better in other places.

If the foregoing is true where is the incentive for corporations to hire here in the U.S.? This would cause an incentive to hire over seas if expansion is needed rather than here at home. This also prolongs the recession and robs seniors of a fair return on their savings accounts.

1. do you have any idea what a fair interest rate is on savings right now.
50K in a standard savings account pays less than 1% more like .054, where is the incentive to save.

Sure if the stock market is up, other investments can pay, but with the SEC investigations, endrun, and the rest, how safe can you really feel playing with your retirement nest egg?

2. Just guessing I'd say
Lower interest rates promotes employment. Companies pay interest too.
