Welfare towns
I had visited a town in northern Minnesota. Walker.

There's a bloke who runs a museum of the town.

He's a Republican.

It used to be a big logging town.

But now it's a welfare town because more than half its inhabitants are on welfare.

Several times I got annoyed.

How can republicans want things both ways? If you want people off of welfare, give them jobs - ones they can live off of. Duh. Yet a lot of Republicans (and a few DINOs) openly support outsourcing and devaluing of jobs.

The pigs can't have it both ways.

I don't get it.

Extreme lefty as I am known to be, I do understand some of what the SANE Republicans are talking about (getting off welfare and such). But the good ones blindly follow the two-faced lunatics who create and clearly support the shit hole we're in right now. It's hard to respect any of them these days, much less give them a fair hearing anymore. :-(

I don't know.

With terrorism, the national debt, and peak oil approaching, amongst other sundry issues I can't remember, I don't think Americans will be able to come together again. The mainstream media is partly to blame for not telling people ALL viewpoints (indeed, they all seem to say the SAME viewpoint, sometimes word for bloody word) while dumbing down audiences with really stupid programs.

How can we get this nation whole and healing?

Indeed, can we at all?

1. Fundie Polygamists too
The town of Colorado City, Arizona is an 'affluent' welfare city getting millions of Fed bucks and paying less than $100K taxes. Colorado City is a nearly 100% Fundie polygamists from the Sheriff on down to the rats. It's clean, nice houses and the Prophet head lives in a walled delux compound. Bush wants us to give more money to religious charities?

2. Yup, and those Fed bucks are coming from "giver" States
or the "Blue" States. I love when my tax money goes toward 'faith-based' insanity! :eyes:

3. You really have to wonder about the answer to this question?
I have wondered about it myself. If you think they have deliberately created both ideologies to coexist what answer do you come up with? I haven't completely answered it myself but as you examining it the possibility that they want us poor and starving comes to mind.

4. Welfare and loss of jobs
Don't forget that single men are not eligible for welfare. It's for families with children, only.

So, if you're a single male, and lose you job and can't find another... good luck....

For women with children, and families, there is that lovely 21 month limit, courtesy of Clinton. So, if you haven't found a job and gotten back on your feet in this lovely economy in that time.... outta luck...
