Howard Stern off attacking Bush right away this morning, this time on 9-11
he's recounting how he continued to read to the kids on 9-11 minute by minute.

Howard is a man on a mission.

"Bush lied"

1. I wish I could listen
But he's been cut off in Pittsburgh. Has Howard's Bush ranting been shown on his late-night E program? Is it worth setting the VCR for?

2. Nope, E! continues to only show the best visual parts of the show
which gives everyone who doesn't listen the wrong impression.

He's planning a woodstock like concert for free speech at RFK stadium in DC and then a march to the mall

4. This is good on so many fronts.
He's yelling so loudly about this, that if he does get fired, people will automatically say it's about politics, not dirty words.

Firing him will upset a few million dedicated Stern listeners, many of whom are Bush supporters.

If he gets fired, he'll be back on the air within weeks on another network of stations. He's too popular and generates too much money for that not to happen. Perhaps he can anchor a more liberal radio network.

If he doesn't get fired, we've got a VERY loud mothpiece against Bush.

Bring it on.

17. All the people..
... who think Stern doesn't know what he is doing should reconsider.

He is basically telling everyone, FCC, broadcasters, EVERYONE, "make my day".

And yes, what he is doing this morning is letting pro Bush* callers get thru then debunking them. One guy called in claiming Bush*'s SATs were higher than Gore or Clinton. Howard said, "what was his score" and the guy couldn't answer.

That's funny!

35. And where might "A more liberal Network" be in this country, The great
Mike Malloy can't even find work and he is a seasoned liberal pro.

The absolute best bar none!

6. Don't get me wrong.....I mostly enjoy
Stern's show. And while I know he's
furious and says the FCC will soon force
his boss to fire him, I wonder if he's
being overly dramatic and how much of
this is a publicity stunt?

I've been listening. Howard is very, very
intelligent. He's probably getting the best
ratings he's had in a long, time!

At any rate, as a proud member of the
California First Amendment Coalition, I
think it's shameful what Infinity and the
FCC are doing!!!!

7. Actually the legislation in congress is very real
Sam Brownback sending a letter to Mel Karmazin asking him why he hadn't fired Stern is very real.

10. Yep, heard him talk about that,
but my point is Howard is saying
there is NOTHING anyone can do to
help save the show....that he may
only be on the air for another week,
a month at the most, and he's saying
his goodbyes now.

He also said the FCC was going to hand
down the fine this past Friday, which obviously
didn't happen.

I still think he's over-reacting to a degree..
that's just my take. I hope I'm wrong.

19. There is no question..
... he is overplaying it. It is a strategy on many levels.

His assertion that Viacom will fold like a paper napkin in the face of FCC fines doesn't sound right to me. Stern makes them millions a year, they will not go do without a fight.

Stern is just forcing everyone's hand. But in the meantime - I think he really does want Bush* out, and not just because of FCC censorship. If you listen to him, the things he keeps harping on are:

- Gays should be allowed to be married.

- Stem cell research should be allowed.

- The only reason these are not is because Bush* is a religious wack job.

I can't argue with any of those positions.

21. I can't argue with those positions either,
however Stern really hasn't been outspoken
about them until now, so I think the latest
ordeal with the FCC has played a significant role.

If I'm not mistaken, he was more or less a Bush fan
up until now, and I've heard him take conservative
stands on issues on more than one occasion.

22. Yes, that's how he operates and it is hilarious to watch him go at it
The book and the movie "Private Parts" illustrate what makes him tick. He thrives on pushing boundaries and loves having enemies. I haven't been able to listen to him for the last few years, so I don't know if he still has the old stuff, hopefully he does.

I am so mad that I am missing this! He is obviously an obsessive person and he is great at milking controversies for everything they are worth. So far, he has always won. I love the fact that he is bringing up the information about the far-right religious agenda to a young audience.

I hope he explains to them that the next president may get to choose three Supreme Court judges. They are NOT going to want that person to be Bush.

The publicity is sending his ratings through the roof. They'll pay the fine and hire some lawyers and that will be the end of it

Nothing but friggin commercials. Howard's not getting fired anytime soon. He's making way too much money for everybody.

on edit: 10 minutes of commercials and still counting...

20. This may resonate a bit. I was in Borders over the weekend and
overheard some of the checkers lamenting the fact that he was off the air and how pissed it made them. I don't understnd the appeal, but I'm all for it waking up some of America's walking dead.

24. i was listening to him in the car b4 work, and he was screaming
He worked himself up over stem cell research and was railing against Bush and his stupidity. A caller that identified himself as a Republican set off Stern. The caller was sympathetic to what Howard was going through, but Stern took this as an opportunity to rail against Bush and the Republicans.

He was very worked up. After that he said he had enough, and this was the last show he was going to talk about this stuff. We'll see. I had to stop listening at that point so I don't what he said after that.

27. Two things that have being putting happy face on me..
While I don't listen to Stern, I knew that he's been pretty much hyping Bush for the last several years; and thus, when I heard that he's gone nutso on Bush now, I smiled. It made national news---his comment about "vote this maniac out"--priceless!! But, I've also seen that Imus has been badmouthing Bush and the administration along with his studio full of butt licking lackeys. Before, they spit upon anyone who opposed Bush. They keep talking about the lying us into war. Today he had Mary Matlin on via phone and ended up telling her she "drank the Kool-Aid" and that naturally she was a part of this crap therefore is interested in covering it up. I'm hoping it's this type of talk that finally puts a dent in Bush's stupid white men voters.

32. He also just said that today was the last time he would talk about
"this stuff"..

We need to flood him with letters to tell him how many NEW listeners he has now that he "grew up"..

He is the ONLY ONE who is being heard now.. Sure.. we have a few internet liberal hosts, and a few local ones on the weekend or late at night.. Howard OWNS the whole message right now..

He needs to be challenged to KEEP it and make it LOUD.. Just like he was copied when his "shock jock" schtick was new...he will be emulated NOW if he manages to stay on..

Even if he is knocked off, he could get an national internet show to rival the deal he has now.. Lots of folks listen to the radio on their pc's.. Not as many as in their cars, but....

Who knows?? It might spur a whole new impetus to some techie out there to get an internet signal to a car radio :)
