I Support Dish Network -
Good for Charlie Ergen for not giving in to Viacom.

Viacom the chicken-shit network that canceled The Reagan's due to right-wing pressure, refused MoveOn.org money, and will soon silence Howard Stern for criticizing Bush.

The greed at the broadcasting companies is staggering. How much did they get for a 30 second spot during the Super Bowl?

All the circuits are busy in NY. I can't phone MTV, CBS or Viacom. But I am calling local CBS affiliates - This is corporate bullying.

1. I was wondering what as up with that
I have Comcast cable. This past weekend, on some channels (TVLand, VH1), they would have a runner appear that would tell Dish people to call and tell them not to drop TVLand, Comedy Central, etc.

2. There runner was there and then it was blacked out on the screen
Comedy Central is probably tweaking a lot of noses. Was wondering how long before companies started dropping. Shades of the Smothers Brothers show getting killed in the Nixon years.

Tommy, Dick, if you are reading DU, we love you and the nation needs you yet again!

They're crediting back $1 per month while they continue to negotiate. The Dish CEO dude is promising to read all e-mails: ceoofdishnetwork@dishnetwork.com .

11. I called 1-800-333-DISH and they've got an option to...
be connected directly to CBS and MTV's phone lines. These are 212 area code numbers, so by doing this, Dish Network is paying your long distance charges. Pretty classy!

This what happens with massive media consolidation. Extortion! Is anyone here suprised that Viacom wants to charge 40% above the inflation rate?

It's locked up now, even with DSL, but their customer care website is...

http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/redirect/index.asp?target=sq_customercare&src=homepage&url=http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/customerCare/index.shtml

It would be good to drop them a line of support.

7. I am bummed about losing my fave channels but
if we give in, it'll never stop. These mega-conglomerates will keep twisting our arms and extorting more and more money from us.

LINK is another great channel as well.
Our household has learned so much from these two channels. The only stuff worth watching.

13. Talked to a Dish rep. I was the first to offer support for them today.
They've been getting hamered with angry Hung and the Breastless fans who want Dish to capitulate to Viacom. If you are a customer push the billing dept. prompts.

She gave me a free month of HBO...although she didn't have to do that.:D
