Clarence Page says Dem nom will come down to Lieberman vs. Graham

(on The McLaughlin Group)

If that's the case, I will leave the Democratic party never to return. Then I'll probably leave the country after Bush trounces them.

This is sick twisted shit, yet its considered mainstream thought?!

1. What did Clarence Page have for breakfast?
Graham, maybe...but Lieberman will be out of the race after New Hampshire or quite possibly if his numbers continue to drop before Iowa. Hey, I can play the part of a political pundit too.

6. Liberman is still high in every poll
He's the annointed one from the DLC.

I expect him to be nominated regardless and he's becoming the only Dem I may refuse to bring a puke bucket for.

I seriously believe the DLC wants to throw this election to Bush.

11. Fear not! There is no way on God's earth Lieberman gets it.
I've been around the block a few times, and this is just chutzpah and blarney talking. Lieberman may be preferred by the rightist Dems who pay attention to events, but by the average Dem, never. Not in a million years.

It will be either Kerry or Dean and either Graham or the General.

23. I think you've got it exactly right
Kerry/Graham (my choice)

or Dean/Clark

All Lieberman has is name recognition courtesy of Gore.

14. Page did say that Lieberman would end up with the money endorsement
which is DLC controlled, as I suspected

20. It is still name recognition
The general populous is not involved yet. Posters on the DU are, and the viewers of cable news are, but that is not a significant portion of the general populous. Lieberman is basking off his VP run in 2000. Trying to handicap the 2004 race based on polls taken right now is like trying to predict what will be in physics books 300 years from now.

2. Page is very middle of the road - but so is America.
Who knows? I personally doubt that prediction - but the decision is a long way off.

5. Is it possible..
..that by the time primaries come around, Dean will sweep everything but the South? He'll win Iowa and New Hampshire, pretty much cementing support from coast to coast?

I think it's a longshot, but if this momentum holds.. geez.. the press he's getting lately is phenominal. Had Gore been treated half as nicely, he would've won by five million votes.

7. This is "August press". Revving up a story while few are looking.
Do not fear - whoever gets the Dem nomination will get the "treatment".

9. Of course they will...
...the difference is the Dean team will keep substantial archives, and lots of willing volunteers. Any writer that trots out the treatment will get a treatment of their own. The media whores and corporations don't get to vote, we do. They'll do their job, or they will face the consequences.

12. I'm not so sure about the South
I think Dean has a chance here in Arkansas. I don't think Lieberman has a chance here, though Graham has his supporters.

13. Bob Graham Is O K -Liebermnan Isn't
Bob Graham has never lost a race in over thirty years-successfully running for governor and senator in the fourth largest state in the Union. This is no small feat as Florida is an amazing mix of urban, rural, and suburban.

He's pro choice

pro gay rights

anti-Bush tax cuts

anti-Iraq invasion

I ask you. What's not to like?

21. Graham Panders to Repukes - if he's nominated -- I go Green!!!
Gore was smart to reject Graham for VP. Voters should take a close look at Graham's loyalties. It's certainly not for his American constituents!!!

15. Normally I like Page but...
I think he needs to go soak his head for a week. I think Lieberman's numbers are due to name recognition, given that the media can't be bothered to cover the other candidates in a way that lets anyone know what they're about. I like Graham, I just don't know yet how he's playing across the country.

27. He said this after the poll that showed Lieb's polls flip-flopping w/ Dean
The poll would suggest that Lieberman is not gaining the appeal he thought he might.
