The Problem - The Economy - Its So Simple
Lou Dobbs just said it, in the middle of a sentance, unnoticed by anyone, but it explains the entire problem.

"We are borrowing money from overseas in order to buy products from overseas."

That really says it all, doesn't it. I mean, if we aren't smart enough to see that we simply can not continue to do that for very long then we really don't deserve to be a solvent country, do we?

1. Who would have guessed Lou Dobbs would trun out to be a Patriot?
I had always thought he was an Impeial Bootlicker like 2/3rds of his cohorts at CNN.

But surprise, surprise, old Lou is that rare and dying breed, a Free American.

You go, Lou! I might not always disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death you're right to say it.

(actually, I agree with most of what Lou has been saying lately, I just wanted to feel that axiom of the Old American Republic roll off my tongue one more time)

2. If we were smart enough to figure that out we wouldn't be voting GOP
I suggest to you America is not really that intelligent of a Nation as compared to other industrialized nations.

3. Anyone with the FACTS and a framework for putting them together
RATIONALLY will come to the conclusion that the Bush administration is bad for the country. Economically, Foreign policy-wise, domestic policy-wise. (Yes, there are some individuals who are doing EXTREMELY well financially under their reign.) However, most people:

1. Do not have the facts. The media is broken; it is an extension of the propaganda machine.

2. Have some facts, but not all of them, and the sheer preponderance of facts and the complexity of their interrelationships make it impossible to see the "big picture".

3. Do not have the capability of rational thought. Americans are dumb and getting dumber thanks to the lapses in public education. Call it "faith based reason".

4. Only care about tax cuts.

Lou Dobbs is a smart guy who is putting the facts together. The 5-10 year implications for the US are not pretty.
