What do we do about Iraq?

Taxes on the Middle Class?

Retention in the military?

Social Contract/Pentagon Budget?

2. Hmmm...
1) Get out (gracefully--and with all deliberate speed--as possible);

2) Lower them--and erase Dub's gifts to the wealthy;

3)Restore active-duty and veterans' benefits--and eliminate PNAC pre-emptive war as a national policy;

4) Reinforce it/Re-structure it, beefing up and trimming where neccessary...

THERE! See why Sen. Kerry has me on his "Policy Team" right now? :eyes:

B-)

3. Cinchy
An effective policy on everything would be to do the opposite of whatever Bush did, especially since that was his "strategery." A reverse for a reverse.

4. Reality - Wishes
Reality - Kerry will likely orchestrate a proper withdrawl with Un replacement forces and try to shore up with the other members of the UN.

Idealy - Kerry doesn't need to do anything because the Iraqi people really are ready to take control of thier government and it's just another lie.

Reality - Taxes on the Middle Class - Kerry will raise the taxes on the top earners (I beleive it's over 200K a year at the moment) The republicans will fight it tooth and nail claiming that Taxes only take money away.

Idealy - Kerry and the US congress are able to see the light of a simplifies flat tax rate with the poverty level and below being tax exempt moneys.

Reality - Kerry will take pretty good care of our military, though he'll grow what is done to serve the troops and likely just continue the same public spending proceedure of Clinton... which was better than either Bush.

Idealy - Kerry will undo all of Bush's attacks against our Military, giving them the pay hikes he voted for in 99, budgeting the equipment upgrades as he proprosed in '01 or '02.

Reality - Social Contract/Pentagon Budget - The social contact if a bit vague with the campaign making it a hard call though he's going to generally fight against some of the more oppressive things that have been added. The Pentagon will likely get a good budget under Kerry as he does seem to believe that a strong military is needed, just not an expansionist.

Idealy - The social contract will be brought back to the days of the 1800s where we are allowed to care for ourselves with only basic laws, which will never happen. The Pentagon will be downsized and restructured so that the military is streamlined and intelligently redesigned so that we're not killing our own people and allies as much as we are.

5. Hmmmmm
I think by the social contract, we are referring to our societal obligation to care for the poor, the unemployed, the elderly the handicapped and so on. That said, I'm not sure a return to the 1800's would be progress. Although the 1800's might have some stuff to say about the right of privacy.
