Alleged Al Qa'ida email claims "Winds of Black Death" attack on US near

The alleged Al Qa'ida e-mail to an Arab-language London paper claiming responsibility for the bomb blasts in Madrid also contains a warning to the US.

The letter, faxed to Reuters by a London-based Islamic newspaper after the blasts, said: "The 'Winds of Black Death' strike against America is now in its final stage ... 90 percent (ready) and God willing near."

Now, I'm not saying I automatically believe this. But given how out-of-touch our own government has been on intelligence lately (underplaying threats before 9/11, overplaying threats in Iraq), it could be helpful for us to be aware of these things and maybe somehow do a bit of threat assessment ourselves.

did point out, that grassroots movements can have a huge impact on things like this. Suppose we demand answers concerning this threat, publicly?

we should be able to see more proof. If it's this serious we need to know more. Of course I would prefer to hear that the attack was foiled somehow then see the plans and tools that were going to be used. I don't want another attack to be the proof.

Winds of Black Death indeed...what White House group thinks up this stuff? People in the US have these images of black robed muslims hovering over them and attacking..not to mention they used the word black death, as tho a plague is about to hit people

Comes from a group that made false claims of responsibility before. Who would have an interest in making false claims and threats when people are scared? I think poster #2 hit the nail on the head.

His whole message is that "i have protected America". Hard to make that case if a few thousand more people die.

So many wasted resources and ill will over that one.
