I hate Job Fairs.

I was watching Lou Dobbs last night and he dedicated the last half-hour of his show to anything related to jobs. He did mention job fairs and how people go to these fairs while the presenters are either hiring for shitty sales or other menial work, or they are just seeing what's out there, planning to keep your resume on file.

I know about those. I went to four of them last year and I hated every moment of it. All I see are sales jobs, they had some healthcare too, but I am not qualified for that. It is kind of random but god do they suck.

1. Even worse

Some of those sales jobs turn out to be thinly disguised Multi-level-marketing scams. Some insurance based some vitamin based....all suck!

4. I HEARD about those!

You have to BUY the product to sell and you make commission on what you sell. I have had calls like this because my resume is on hotjobs and monster. I can't believe scams like this are allowed to continue.

5. True...

...you either buy the product you sell or you buy a "trainong kit" that should help you become a better sales person.

I would agree. I cannot believe that they are allowed to continue, especially to be at job fairs to pick up on unsuspecting people who are desparate for work.

Primerica is the worst. I went to their "informational" meeting to hear how wonderful their pyramid scheme was.

I'm a sales professional with 10+ years of experience, and I'm used of making six figures per year (include a 90K-low 100s base). Now companies want to pay peanuts for the same experience, because they CAN in this economy. Companies are really paying for your rolodex of contacts. Prior customer relationships tend to shorten the sales cycle. Companies are finding that they're not making their revenue targets by hiring junior people, but smaller companies often can't afford a more seasoned sales professional, thanks to Bush's economic policies.

7. the whole economy

is crowded out by the military. The entire civilian business
climate has been crowded out. Its no surpirse they've beheaded
all intelligence in sales. People that are smart want to be
paid well and they ask quesitons and have ethical views.
Slave labour doesn't.

Its all due to the reduction of a business to an "aggregation of
contracts". This republican device discounts the very busienss line
to the financial markets, without any charter to trade at a certain
competency. Then experience and knowledge of professions and sales
can be discounted by financial markets as equal to a 24 year old
arts graduate with a tight ass.
