Will aWol*'s Dance on Soldiers' Graves This Coming Week Backfire?
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040312/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_war_anniversary&cid=544&ncid=1480

The original title of this AP story was:

"bush to Mark Iraq War Anniversary"

In the last 24 hours it was changed to:

"bush Looks to Spotlight Anti-Terror Fight"

<snip>
WASHINGTON - The White House is hoping to spotlight progress in the broad war on terrorism next week as President Bush (news - web sites) marks the one-year anniversary of the Iraq (news - web sites) invasion.

The focus will be on such issues as the breakup of an arms-dealing network based in Pakistan and Libya's decision to give up weapons of mass destruction, even as Bush speaks on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (news - web sites).

Also blended into Bush's schedule will be political events in key electoral states including Pennsylvania and Florida.

Every day next week, the White House has arranged events meant to highlight gains in the war on terrorism since the Iraq war, which began March 19, 2003.

.....They have edited the story a bit from the original too. More emphasis on anti-terra less on Iraq. Curious, No? I think his celebrations all week of the "Iraq Liberation" will backfire bigtime!

Dover to D.C. Memorial Procession
A trail of mourning and truth to honor those killed and wounded in Iraq

March 14 and 15

The Bush Administration refuses to acknowledge the toll of this war – including those who are killed and wounded. We call on this administration to start telling the truth, and stop hiding the toll. We will begin this two-day event at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, where the U.S. war dead arrive. This memorial procession will honor our fallen brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, wives, husbands, mothers, fathers and friends, along with Iraqis and the increasing number of people from other countries who have been killed and wounded, as we deliver our call to end the violence to the nation's capital

4. Thank you for the reminder Mari...
I only hope some TV station somewhere has the decency to cover it.

2. I don't think even his supporters are celebrating the price tag
for this boondoggle.

He started slipping, IMHO, when he went on TV last fall to announce that he needed 87 billion (?) for another year of IraqNam. And, there is zero in the budget projections for Afghanistan and Iraq for the coming fiscal year, which will push the deficit even further through the roof in the coming years.

Its the elephant in the room. His entire administration has been about IraqNam and its a disaster.

3. Returning vets could be a problem. The History Channel seems...
to be launching a preemptive propaganda counter attack to show the vets are overwhelmingly proud of their role in history. :puke:
