Lurch was the wise servent on that show. So I think Kerry fits that description well.

Reference it each time some repug tells you that an attack on GWBs failed policies are personal attacks or attack politics.

At any rate, who cares what stupid crap they say about his appearance. I am more concerned about the lies about JKs character and policy positions.

You've got a great point! I hadn't thought about Cheney looking like Uncle Fester but, now that you mention it, he is a dead ringer AND as you pointed out, he does live in the basement.

seem to be the norm from the right. I try my darnedest to listen to right-wing radio for a bit each day for some perspective on their arguments. While my blood pressure has suffered for it, my overwhelming conclusion is they have no arguments, simply name calling (yeah, yeah, something we all already knew).

It amazes me though that nobody calls the Limbauhs, Hannitys, Ingrhams, etc. on it, but I guess when you're preaching to the choir . . . :puke:

Dean puts the spotlight on the Iraq debacle = he's emotionally unstable

Edwards reveals the "Two Americas" = he's a lawyer

Michael Moore makes us think = he's fat (and a media elite!)

*sigh* Sad thing is these tactics work, especially on the audiences that consider Faux to be news rather than "news."

The optimistic side of me likes to think that when somebody's son is fighting in Iraq and their neighbor is out of work that those things will supersede the fact that Bush's opponent is tall.

We won't let that stuff get to us...and her statement was not original - there was a joke going around weeks ago that Kerry vs. Edwards was Lurch vs. Tom Sawyer.

PS Actually the funniest thing I've heard during this whole business was Maher's remark that Teresa Heinz Kerry was the Ketchup lady - that's why he John has to hit her on the bottom to make her come.

The fact is that it was the media who stated that Rove is a genius. I don't think so - I think these guys have clay feet and as soon as people stop being cowed by the bullying, stop being the 10 year old who's shaken down for his or her lunch money, they will electorally rise up against these Machiavellian Manipulators. They are transparently obnoxious and incompetent - the real fault lies with the fact that people are just like they were in Jr. HS, they waver before a clenched fist. How many encounters in film and literature do people have to watch and see before they know that one well-placed swing disarms the bully?

It's like grade school, where some loudmouthed bully with deep-seated feelings of inadequacy and a pathological need for attention starts calling the tall kid or the smart kid or any other kid some name and it sticks. How many tall kids do you remember getting called Lurch in school? How about the Jolly Green Giant? Yeah, that's original. Gimme a break.

That's why I don't particularly like calling Bush "chimp" etc. even though he is decidedly simian looking. On another board I participate in, where I USED to debate RW'ers (gave that up, it was just dumb), people have started threads with these Lurch pictures etc. I could post the Bush/Chimp pics etc. there but I just don't participate. The threads and comments that I post have information, arguments, and I don't shout.

If you can point out that you have arguments, and what the other side has is namecalling, you've won half the battle.

That having been said, I'm still totally cool with "lying, crooked..." because it's true!

I'll take "Lurch" any day of the week. Gore was a better looking guy than Kerry (although I don't think JK is difficult to look at) but wasn't half the fighter that JK is, either during the campaign or after the SCOTUS decision. We NEED a fighter. I think it's kind of funny that it's been revealed that JK's heritage is in fact Czech and part Jewish rather than Irish which his name and Boston heritage would suggest. 'Cause he fights like the stereotypical Boston Irishman.

They both have long faces. That's about the only similarilty I see.
