Would you be suspicious if Spain is terrorized once it pulls out of Iraq?

Me, I just can't see the current neocon crew allowing the object lesson "the way to eliminate terrorism is to stop supporting the US" to stand. If they do, they very well may hear crickets chirp the next time they look for a multinational fig leaf.

They didn't even slow down when our former allies didn't support us. They just said "who needs Old Europe(tm)", and moved right along with their plans. It was somewhat convenient for them to claim the support of England, Australia, etc. However, I think that even if every single country turned their back on us, these guys would just say "who needs Old Earth(tm)? we're going it alone for God, Mom, and Apple Pie."

2. Well, I haven't seen many interviews where the "unilateral" issue...

is brought up where the admin. spokesperson doesn't tout the "30 nations support us" line.

As I said, it was convenient for them, so they used it. I just think that having no international support at all wouldn't have stopped them.

difficult.

Rather than actually fight terror, this administration chose to use terrorism as an excuse to implement a neocon 'control the oil' foreign policy. The weakness of that strategy is that you greatly increase terrorist recruiting and open your allies up to the kind of attack Spain just suffered. Somehow they have to plug that hole in their strategy.
