Why did my wife receive autographed copy of Dubya and Laura ??
Edited on Fri Mar-19-04 08:27 PM by kentuck
She has been a liberal Democrat all her life and was at one time the only elected Democratic official in Colorado Springs. (School Board) So, a day or so ago, she get a glossy 8 x 10 of Dubya and Laura thru the mail? What's going on here? Are they counting her as one of their many, many contributors and are maybe giving her name to the FEC?? How many other thousands of people is this happening to and would not this permit some people to donate more than the legal limit, under the guise of accepting the donation under another name, a Democratic name at that? Is this paranoia warranted? I would like an investigation. :)

1. My mother also got that
And she has never been a Republican.

They must have had some extras they're mailing to random people. "Bulk sales." They have to look like they're sending a lot of campaign literature out to regular people, otherwise, somebody might notice that they get all their campaign funds from three corporations.

2. That is one scary thought
What's going on here? Are they counting her as one of their many, many contributors and are maybe giving her name to the FEC??

Burn the damn thing. Spit on it, step on it, pick up whatever dog crap you have in the yard with it and toss it in the fire.

4. I get one every year.
I was born a democrat. I work for a democrat, I vote democrat, I campaign for democrats. So they are just stupid and use the telephone book to send out their stuff.

3. Sounds like donation fraud to me. Report it, for what little good it will
do.

Personally, I signed up for both a republican "team leader" position, and to help as a volunteer for the repukes in the election itself, for a couple of reasons.

1. I receive their "talking points" bulletins. Interesting stuff, if you have a strong stomach. Know your enemy.

2. As an election volunteer in their office, there is no end to the mayhem and hijinks potential. After all, I am not a registered democrat, and they can't bust me for "incompetence" when I foul something up in a TRULY HUGE WAY.

<cue evil laughter>

8. You, too, can burrow into the guts of the GOP, only to burst out like
that little critter in "Alien".

Try it sometime, it's fun. I've gotten away with it for 3 elections so far. I just go to a different town each time.

*ring, ring*

"Hello, Republican headquarters, helping the helpless help the wealthy...what can I do for you today?"

6. I received it too..
I received that photo also and I have been a registered Democrat since 1984. I just tore the whole package up and threw it away. The only conflicting feelings I had was whether I should use it as a dart board or not, but I realized that was just a waste of time.

7. They sent me a Bush/Cheney 04 bumper sticker
I'm half inclined to reply with a brief note including the URL of the indianaforclark website (assuming it's still up) listing me as the IU Coordinator...lol. Who knows where they get the names.

9. She's on a list
The campaign probably bought a list that she's on.

I've gotten some Republican trash now and then. Signed photos of Raygunz, soliciting my donation for his library, even a picture of Air Force One used by RR.

I stuff it into the return envelope and send it back. Make them pay for the postage.

10. stick it in the back of a urinal
that's what me and my buddies did in our dorm in 1980 when Reagan was running -- stuck Reagan pictures in the urinals. They stick very easily.

It felt great to piss on Reagan's face.

11. I received two
in my maiden and married names. Can't for the life of me understand why. Even my friendly, kindred spirit mailman who delivers all kinds of 'pernicious' material to me like Liberal Opinion Week, The Nation, American Prospect wondered about the Bush-Cheney '04 crap when I mused out loud as he handed my mail to me: "why is this shit from that idiot coming to me." We both laughed about it and he said: Ya wanna send it back ...

15. I got one a month ago. Was a photograph
but I've never opened it. I wrote "refused" and put it back in the mail. It was mailed from the Bush and Cheney 2004. And I am on every democratic party database, national and local.

But, seems that Minnesota is a toss up market, so we have Bush ads day and night. What was interesting that it was addressed to me by my full, legal name, including middle name the way I have in on my driver's license and when registered to vote.

It's just because I subscribe to a lot of investment things like Forbes and the WSJ. I really shouldn't do that.

17. Send a bumper sticke back in the postage paid envelope
I sent one my daughter gave me for Christmas:
Somebody else for President

A DU bumper sticker might be a thoughtful cotribution to them.

Check at http://www.opensecrets.org/ to make sure your name isn't on donor list you didn't give to.

18. I got one 2 weeks ago. I can assume it is due to our zip code.
I sent the (postage paid!) envelope back filled with junk mail, and the requesting letter (crayoned with LIAR and 'save your soul, leave now') and 24 pennies. I intend to make a dent in that 200 mill..

The picture..............do not ask.

19. IMPORTANT: Check out this site
there's a another thread on it. It lists names and addresses of all people who donated to any candidate, with candidate name and amount donated:

http://www.fundrace.org/neighbors.php

I think you should check to see if you are listed. If so, it's time to raise a huge stink about this fraud.

see if your name shows up on their donor list. If it does, talk to the local D party; maybe next the local news; maybe next federal attorney.

24. My Wife Too! Interesting Story.
My wife (a life-long Democrat) got a photo and a thank you letter months ago from the Bush campaign. She took the letter and crossed out all the lies and propaganda and added some choice comments of her own. She sent it back in the postage paid envelope.

A few weeks ago, she gets an 8x10 of the same photo with a note thanking her for supporting Bush. I thought it was some campaign worker's response to her little gag. Now I wonder. By the way, you don't want to know what we did to the 8x10.

25. Don't throw it away!!
Everytime I get something from the Republican Party - And for some reason I get one about once a week - I open it and check if there is a postage free envelope inside. I faithfully fill out the plea for money, checking the "Other amount" box after putting zero's in the box, put a sticker on the outside of the envelope that says 'Impeach Bush', along with one on the form itself and send it back to them.
They keep sending them to me.
Here's a tip for sticker activism - Avery label templates are in Appleworks and Word ( as everyone knows). I've been using mail merge to generate labels that I'm putting on newspaper honor boxes, lamp posts, above urinals, etc. saying "Bush lied, thousands died.
Impeach Bush." Been doing this for at least a year. The only things I don't put them on are US Mail boxes. Don't want to get done for defacing Fed property.

I really, really, REALLY DO!!!

I need a new pic for my dart board. Anyone who remembers Murphy Brown's dart board on the back of her office door will know I'm serious, and where I got the idea. :) And it's now pictureless...

Anyone wanna send me theirs?
