Bush Regime in All-Out Assault on the Air Waves....
They are blitzing in earnest, no doubt about it. This week has seen Condi, Rummy, Colin, and Bush every day on the tube pushing the righteousness of their war effort in Iraq. Over and over and over and over until you get it into your little heads that we did the right thing invading Iraq - no matter if we lied our asses off. Have you got it yet? Well, get in line Buster! We can't have anyhone not accepting the party line....Got it?

3. They are truly desperate now
How can they keep up their lies for eight months?

What do they have to offer? Failure and more failure.

....one thing they learned in the run up to the war...if you repeat something often enough the public believes it. That's why 80% of American's believed there was a connection between Saddam and 9/11. Thats why most of the Bush supporters repeat erroneous information -- because its fed to them over and over and over again...from the administration itself, from FNN, from Limbaugh. So although us critical thinkers might be sick of their mantra...the best predictor of the future is the past and the public buys stuff thats repeated over and over again. The only way to beat it is to contrast it with our own message...over and over and over again.

6. I second that...
... the "big lie" theory is not just a theory, it has been proven to work.

7. War.
What do they have to offer?

More war on terror, especially in Afghanistan, a place that has been almost neglected for two years. They will push this hard because nothing gets the American Sheeps's attention like action and blood flowing. The Media loves this too. Great for ratings.

13. Whoa yeah
They gave the Bushies such a nice bombing-anniversary present: no mention of today's bombs and protests in Iraq.

8. the effectiveness of this ad blitz will be measurable

soon. Remember this time period is being used to define kerry to the public. Many people don't know who he is much less have any real grasp of what type of person he is. If the polls in a month show unfavorable opinions of kerry they will be difficult to shake and could last a long time. Remember- first impressions count! If kerrys campaign takes the attitude that it is a long way to election so let them blow their wad, they could be in for a rude awakening. Here is a taste of how bushco is attempting to portray him--
(edited for badd speling)

"Kerry's third structural weakness is that having a reputation for being both a liberal and a flip-flopper is a combustible combination: Whatever you do to rebut one charge just confirms the other. Take gay marriage. In the past Kerry has tended to stake out relatively liberal terrain on the issue -- for example, he voted against the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996. This would seem to put him to the left of the average swing voter, a position that could be exploited by the Bush campaign. So how would Kerry insulate himself from this kind of attack? The only way that comes to mind is by moving rightward -- which Kerry did earlier this year when he hinted he might support an amendment to the Massachusetts constitution banning gay marriage. In one fell swoop Kerry transformed himself from a liberal on gay marriage to ... a flip-flopper on gay marriage. ......
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/03/18/opinion/main607185.shtml

.....Responding to a Bush ad thrashing him for voting against last year's $87 billion supplemental for Iraq and Afghanistan, Kerry managed an impressive trifecta of ineffectiveness: "I actually did vote for his $87 billion, before I voted against it," Kerry told a crowd of veterans at Marshall University, before going on to explain that the version he voted for would have been paid for by repealing tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. Which is to say, Kerry's first instinct was to move rightward ("I actually did vote for his $87 billion"), his second instinct was to strive for consistency ("...before I voted against it), and his third instinct was to retreat into the kind of inside-the-beltway legislative-ese that got him into so much trouble last summer and fall."

18. Kerry was snowboarding today.
He looked relaxed and cool. I think it was the perfect image to throw against their spew of hatred.

KERRY CALLED SECRET SERVICE AGENT 'SON OF A B*TCH' AFTER SLOPE SPILL

Dem presidential candidate John Kerry called his secret service agent a "son of a bitch" after the agent inadvertently moved into his path during a ski mishap in Idaho, sending Kerry falling into the snow.

When asked a moment later about the incident by a reporter on the ski run, Kerry said sharply, "I don't fall down," the "son of a b*itch knocked me over."

The Secret Service agent in question has complained about Kerry's treatment, top sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT. http://www.drudgereport.com/kerryid2.htm

Last month, Kerry began receiving Secret Service protection.

"Obviously, the complications and burden of being monitored 24-hours a day is not just an a simple inconvenience," a government source explained Friday. "But Senator Kerry should understand agents are working for his safety and well-being."

9. I wish Kerry would get some real attack dogs for the Sunday news shows.
As Bernie Ward (KGO radio in SF) spoke about...how timid the people Kerry sends out on the Sunday rounds of the talk show...and how they back off from the aggressive spokespersons BushCo sends out every Sunday.

As Ward stated, he wish he could be out there for Kerry, he would never let up until they answered his question...he sees the Kerry people as backing off and not really defending Kerry's positions staunchly enough, or sometimes not even prepared to follow up on their own attack...

Is this true? I don't watch the tube so I would know. But I'd love to hear your thoughts.

10. I agree absolutely
it is a broken record blitz--over and over and over --the same--they all say the same and have been for days now.

Goebbels would lose against the Bush propaganda machine.

The thing they are ALL concnetrating upon is changing history--Iraq is better off now--as is the world without Saddam. Bush is a wonderful leader for invading this defenseless country and killing ten thousand people so he could get their stuff. He is a great man interested in peace. He has convinced, sadly, half the peple in the US that this is the truth. We are a nation wiht a great many vengeful and barbaric followers of the evil man, Bush.

and, also in lockstep, the Spaniards are dumb for caving into the terrorists and of course, the invasion of Iraq continues to be connected to 911.

They ALL have those points down pat.

and sadly, silence from the opposition and a participation from the media of highlighting this blitz.

11. Does Anyone Know...
What is the best way to deal with Chimpy's attacks? The honorable thing to do is just do a Edward R. Murrow-esque kind of thing and just refute with facts. However, does the average woman or man who does not actively seek outside information respond to this? Does anyone know the stats on this?

12. Good Doctor.....
When we have lost the power of an honest and free press, it is an impossible task. Unless there is a change in the way the media reports on the "crooks and liars", I fear there is an uphill struggle for many years to come. They wouldn't want to look like "conspiracists", would they?

14. Bottom line
Elections are rarely about facts. They are about perception. So far Bushco's Onslaught seems to be resonating well with the majority of the sheep. Rethugs/Neocons are better at this game than Dems because Rethugs have no scrupples and are persistent and highly agressive. They are skilled at the dirty tricks and their attack dogs are viscious. Also, the Rethugs are good at the simple statements and images. Right now the only ace in their deck is War On Terror. The Media loves action and blood, hence the renewed war in Afghanistan.

19. I don't watch TV for news right now. It's too nasty.
I go online, read my books, or listen to NPR. It's more than enough to keep me connected and up to date with current events without having to wade through RW sewage. It is part of my sanity regimen.
