This is H*ll radio will be talking about National Endowment for Democracy
Edited on Sat Mar-20-04 10:09 AM by Robbien
Per their site:

Jeremy Bigwood, the freelance journalist who obtained documents under the US Freedom of Information Act revealing that, in 2002, the National Endowment for Democracy, a not-for-profit agency financed entirely by the US Congress, gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to fund the political opponents of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, including those that were allegedly involved in the failed coup. Earlier this week, Jeremy was quoted as saying, "this repeats a pattern started in Nicaragua in the election of 1990 when (the US) spent $20 per voter to get rid of (the Sandinista President Daniel) Ortega. It's done in the name of democracy but it's rather hypocritical. Venezuela does have a democratically elected President who won the popular vote which is not the case with the US"

Other items up for discussion today will be the Afghanstan women's rights, democracy in Iran and native languages in America.

In Chicago it is on FM 89.3 from 9a to 12:30p. To listen to the web stream

edit: They are also discussing the protest marches in Chicago and around the world!

2. Today I am in because I got in early
but previously whenever I got the Server is Full notice I kept hitting "Play" over and over again. Keep trying, sooner or later they will let you in. This station is not real large as it is sponsored by listeners and Northwestern University.

3. They just mentioned DU
Edited on Sat Mar-20-04 11:27 AM by Robbien
Someone from the radio station must read this site because they mentioned that we are now listing their program on our front page. DU got a good plug from them.

So far they have talked with Sahar Saba from Afghanistan. She said that she was worried that if OBL and his second in command is captured, the world will then go away and ignore the serious security situation in Afghanistan. She said that Afghanis do not really want US troops there. What they really want is more UN peacekeepers.

Right now they are talking about native american language, but next up is NED.

4. I wanted to hear it but I can't log on
no luck ... I can't log on. I log on to quite a few other net shows with no problems whatsoever.

But, this one won't work. I kept trying and trying. No go.

6. Great, just in time to get the NED and Iran discussions
Sorry it was so much trouble, but I believe their program is worth the effort. They are talking about DemocracyNow and Amy Goodman where the NYT wrote an article on her airplane interview with Aristide, but would not give credit to either her or DemocracyNow. What a crock.

8. this is sure underwhelming.
they don't even know about the NED.

Hard to believe that these guys have a left leaning show and they don't know much about NED. ????

Would someone have them read up on NED. You can start with WILLIAM BLUM and his books "KILLING HOPE" and "ROGUE STATE".

10. I believe the problem here is the guest
This guest is not a very good interviewee and TIH is trying to make it clear to their listeners. This must be the first time they have talked about NED where they must be trying to get the audience up to speed.

I admire the interview skills of TIH, they conduct very good interviews where the questions they ask are very clear and pointed. But, yes my interest in NED is on a different level than the one they are on.

11. This Iranian interview is very interesting
Edited on Sat Mar-20-04 01:23 PM by Robbien
The Iraqi situation from an Arab viewpoint, where he discusses the Kurdish position and an anti-shiit view. Interesting.

edit: this Iranian is blinded by PR and admires what we say we are, not what we really are. He believes is a bright shiny America whose intentions are good.
