"I am saying no to war," Mejia said at a press conference at the abbey, surrounded by family, friends, and a large contingent of news media, including reporters from other countries. "I went to Iraq and was an instrument of violence, and now I have decided to become an instrument of peace."

While in Iraq, Mejia said, he was troubled by the number of Iraqi civilians who were killed by soldiers. "They don't want us there; we don't want to be there," he said. "We're getting killed there."

How can we help this and other soldiers like this? i feel so helpless.

10. Keep fighting to get the word out

I talked with Nancy Lessin at mfso.org tonight and she told me the press is bombarding them with requests to SPEAK TO SOLDIERS WHO ARE AGAINST THE WAR AFTER THEY RETURNED
Good!!!! Now demand that the press COVER them!!
the word needs to get out there!!!!

4. I hope he uses the Bush* did also defense.

Bush* set the precedent so I guess it should not be a shock to anyone that others might just think they could just leave like Bush* and get away with it. Bush* has gotten away with stuff all his life and just doesn't know any different. I hope they don't deal too harshly with this man who chooses peace over war.
