i kid you not. on the propaganda machine this morning, it was suggested that these four people may replace colon bowel who announced he's not doing another term for bushco.

with the exception of lugar, who i see as an animated corpse, these names send chills to anyone who knows the score. newt fuckin gingrich running the war on earth? pass the prozac

1. I had to get out of bed to say something about this very thing!
No kidding, MoPaul. And here is your little thread .....at the top of the list.

It just dawned on me.

There is something at the State Department that these goons need to put a lid on. And Colin isn't and hasn't been willing to shred it, hide it, fix it, erase it (whatever they want) for a very, very long time. Probably about the time they turned pit bull Newt on Colin a couple of months ago. You know....the LAST time we even saw Colin public?

Colin resigning is not Colin's idea......it was negotiated.

This is just a gut feeling...but I just have a feeling that if we break open the State Dept, we will have something so utterly damning that BushCo wouldn't even try to pass wind on it; they'd just pack their (carpet)bags and leave.

I think it would be very healthy to speculate about the State Department.....from the most general things about what it does and it's purpose (since we don't practice diplomacy any longer!) and hook it up with what we know Colin has done in his little term. Where has he been? Who has he talked to? and what happened after he was done?

Hmmmmmmm............ Not in foil yet...merely speculation and a big gut feeling about this.

4. Had a guy from RI who worked for me during the last election.
Edited on Mon Aug-04-03 07:05 AM by brigadoon
He was a family type and trying to get a little piece of the action for his family's future. He was so gung ho about this whole tribe. Bush - Harvard, Yale, MBA, Colin Powell, strong, honest, --- and the rest of them.

I can still hear him talking in glowing terms about the hope he had in this group. Would love to hear what he has to say now.

By the way, one of the groups that we hear from (maybe Move On) (can't remember who)asked us to e-mail Powell about a month ago and ask him to pack up his last shred of respect and leave the sinking ship. Do you think that had something to do with this?

2. I figured it was Bush or at least, Rumsfeld
who got Gingrich to take shots at Powell a couple of months ago. Now he's gonna serve them well by making the likes of Rice and Wolfowitz look temperate and sane. Poor asshole probably thinks he's got a shot at the job.

3. Powell fooled me for a long time.
He has continued to be seen as the one really trustworty person in that whole group. When you hear arguements about the war you always hear a bunch saying that it must be right ot true, Colin said so and they TRUST him. So, this may be just one more good thing for us. When have you ever heard anyone say things like that about Newt, Condi or Wolfie? They are much less trustworthy and I am hopeful this will help with the election if we get to have one and if it counts.

12. I concur.
Bush will reward her "service" to her country. But the truth is that this is the equivalent of "hush money".

7. Condi or Wolfie? I'd love to see them try...
... wouldn't those confirmation hearing just be a blast to watch? These Dems have found some backbone since they so quickly capitulated and confirmed Asscroft a couple years ago.

Of course, it would be up to us to solidify their resolve with a massive letter-writing campaign.

11. I was thinking the same thing...
... he's a sleazebag, but I doubt there's anything solid to throw at him in a confirmation hearing.

But... ick! Frickin' NEWT being this nation's top diplomat?! :puke:

14. Eye of Newt, Warts of Toadies, Bubble Toil And Twouble!
The Pubies are mad at Colin the suckass and his unconvincing son both IMO! The conformation hearings will be intense and a joy to behold and if I were the Shrub I wouldn't count on 100% support in the US Senate with elections up coming! I'd say it will probably be James Baker III the point man for Carlyle/Bushco INC!

Senator Lugie is what Howdy Dudy turned into and I wish some brave American hero, would photoshop me a picture showing the before and here after of Mister Duty's mug!

15. Remember, Sec't of State has be confirmed by Congress
If the recent testimony by Wolfowitz before the Senate F.R. Committee is any prediction, it could get ugly, even among Republicans. Lately, even Lugar and Warner have been very critical of the imperious Bush foreign policy. Rice and Wolfowitz have never had subject themselves to a congressional confirmation and now they have a lot more to answer for.
