Arlen Specter....spinning in the wind

Plenty to Blame for Terror -Republican Lawmaker

By Glenn Somerville

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A former top U.S. security expert is harshly critical of the Bush administration for failing to act on terror threats before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks but a Republican senator said on Sunday the blame reaches back to former Democratic President Bill Clinton

But appearing on CNN's "Late Edition," U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter said there were many to blame for the failures, going back to the Clinton administration in which Clarke also had a top role as counter-terrorism coordinator.

"There is a lot of blame to go around in all quarters," said Specter, a Pennsylvania Republican. "I think if we had put all of the factors together in advance ... then 9/11 could have been prevented."

1. This is a very weak rebuttal.
Um, we are all at fault. Let's hold hands and ask for forgiveness. Oh yeah, and, it's all Bill's fault.

"All Bill's fault" mantra has to be sounding stale even to the righties.

4. Maybe Arlen Specter was at fault too.
Can anyone get Specter's itinerary for the 90s to see what was pre-occupying his time? For that matter, every Republican who was in Congress has no right to blame Clinton, considering that they were expending every waking minute of their time to unseat him from power.

Boy, is this going to be fun. oh boy, oh boy.

5. Perhaps if they had been doing their job....instead of...
focusing on Bill's dick...no that would not have given them the cheap thril. So in a sense...Arlen is right. It is Bill's dick that is at fault. (Using Freeper logic here)

6. I believe the Republicans were busy conducting war against
Bill Clinton. They were having 100's of FBI agents chasing down bogus rumors of Clinton's infidelities and a busted $30K land deal, while they focused on impeaching the last popularly elected President. When he tried to take action, they were screaming "Wag the Dog" or "you don't have to support the President" or "bring a body bag if you visit my state". They hated that he was "nation building" when he took action with NATO to stop the genocide in Kosovo that threatened to ignite a full-scale war in Europe.

Spector and every Republican that participated in that $70MM tax-funded Inquisition should be ashamed of themselves for trying to blame 9/11 on Clinton.

They had control of both Houses and the White House 9 months before 9/11.....why don't they take responsibility for their actions?

8. That's right! The Republicans derailed our intelligence service!
Edited on Sun Mar-21-04 07:14 PM by The Backlash Cometh
They took available investigators away from important matters such as national security to focus on their coup intent. It was actually their first coup attempt, when you think about it.
