Scott McClellan is not human...

I am sitting here watching a replay of todays "News Conference", and am noticing things I didn't when it was live. For starters, I cannot believe that this man can stand there and lie so openly, and not just drop over dead. The next thing that I find interesting, is that he is really under some serious scrutiny by a press corps with a spine, and he does not sweat. He also shows no emotion; I mean none.

There lies the crux of my argument. He is getting beat up pretty badly. Suzanne Malveaux is crushing him, and he doesn't break one bead of sweat, not one. Is his skin some kind of polymer?

I can tell his mouth is dry, and he is robotic in the way he speaks. It is the same old drivel that has been so well rehearsed, and is not going over well with this press corps. The emotionless responses from McClellan are far from anything I've ever seen that can be construed as truth.

This whole thing about Clarke is not going to go away. It is going to blast through this administration like lightning, and there will be no running away and blaming another entity. McClellan will be put in storage, and kept lightly oiled until the next GOP admin, somewhere around 2090, comes into power. Then his batteries will be replaced, and he will be booted up with the new presidents name, and just keep the old CD running.

If there is one good thing about watching this for the second time today, it is that I am seeing the faces of the reporters in a different light, as I don't have to pay attention to the rhetoric. these people are ticked off. They will frame the debate in the coming weeks and months. I am witnessing the crumbling of the regime before my eyes, and McClellan is digging away every time he speaks.

I am happy tonight; there is hope that the future is not as bleak as I thought just 6 months ago.

Seems I read recently that several of Bush's camp were students of Leo Strauss. Yep, lie; the ends justify the means? What a VILE bunch of human trash this administration is!

In their eyes they are doing NOTHING wrong when they lie like this.

In fact, lying is the moral thing to do for them.

So they feel no remorse, in fact, lying makes them feel morally superior.

If you don't believe you're doing anything wrong, if on the contrary you believe you are doing something very moral, you will of course not be nervous, sweating, etc.

These people are dangerous.

however; one slug that was questioning him didn't even seem to know that Clarke was a Republican; kept calling it a 'partisan' attack and I think even called Clarke a 'member of the opposition...' or something similar...

The entire object of journalism is to get tot the truth, regardlewss of ones political stance. Noe, we have 'talking heads' that do little more than push thier own views to the point of nausea. Journalism has never been a pristine area, but usually, the truth snuck through.

Today, it is all about 'presentation'; hence all of the overly made up pretty faces of women and jovial clueless men. It is a sad state of affairs.

This weekend on CNNs "In the Money" they discuussed (kind of) the fluff that is todays "news". Basically they said that news is now pure entertainment, (not even infotainment) and if people wanted to find out the substance of political policy, well, they'd just have to go and find it themselves - because they sure as hell won't report it. It was really a mea culpa. Unfortunately, this show is considered as "cnnfn" and they don't post free transcripts.

I've seen the press like this before, & then another issue comes along, & then it's gone.

They have very short attention spans, & the White House will pull something to change the subject.

I'll give you that. I just love the way he never goes off point-no matter what the question, he repeats the same talking points OVER and OVER and OVER again until I want to reach through the screen and slap him. He's like a scratched record with the needle stuck. The same bullshit over and over. Nothing penetrates, NOTHING. Does he even blink? I haven't noticed. And I absolutely hate the way he pronounces some words, the one that makes me scream out loud is his pronounciation of important. He says em-pour-dent. It's im-por-tant, IM-POR-TANT, you friggin' android! :argh: Sorry, he is repulsive. You learn nothing from these briefings, why do they even bother?

I hope you're right about the house of cards coming down. I feel kinda optomistic my own self.

Stepford child when he first took the post as spokesman. Having said that, I thought, in his own tightass way, he was ready to go into meltdown. Having had to watch him so often, I begin to notice the nuances of his behavior. He definately was wound up tighter than a watch spring. I'll bet he went off stage and went berserk to let off steam. lol

He's the worst White House Press Secretary ever.

He's a horrible liar, and he's not intimidating at all. Zero personality. I want to take his lunch money and push him into a mud puddle every time I see him, and I'm not even a bully.

He's also a bad speaker who makes the same hand gesture over and over (the "little weiner" gesture), and when he hits his talking points, it's obvious. He's simply not smooth.

Ari Fleischer was an incredible Press Secretary. I despise the policies he helped to sell, but I must give credit where credit is due. Fleischer knew when to be smug and he knew how to throw his weight around. He was an excellent liar, and he had a certain charisma. Fleischer owned the room.

McClellan has none of those qualities.

McClellan's ineptitude is made all the more noticeable by the contrast it poses with Ari Fleischer, his syrup-tongued predecessor. Fleischer could spin elaborate webs of obfuscation, leaving the press corps mystified and docile, albeit somewhat resentful as well. Every sentence he uttered came out in the same bored affectation. The most outrageous lie sounded, in his telling, like a truism so obvious it barely deserved mentioning. Most people find such behavior deeply unnatural.

We had some friends in common and he was actually a pretty nice, non-dogmatic guy. His mom was the Rail Road Commisioner of Texas (and still does something, but I'm not sure what) and pretty connected politically with the worshipers of Ganesh.

I saw him a few years ago in Austin, TX and I was astounded by how different he looked. His eyes were red/yellow and glassy, like a lot of other members of Bush's cabinet and he seemed very robotic and uber-formal. Kind of creeped me out.
