Howard Believes He May Only Have About A Week Left On The Air. 03/23/04. 7:50am
Howard said that Benjy's sister was supposed to call in today. She works for this Creative Coalition thing and she claims that the Senate has this indecency bill on the fast track to be approved and it may be passed as soon as next week. Howard said that it will mean the end of his show if it does get passed. He said that the FCC is very sneaky about this stuff and they will pull out a broadcast from 3 years ago and fine him for it. Howard said that there still aren't any clear rules about what you can talk about or not talk about. He said that Oprah Winfrey will never be fined for the conversation she had on her show about ''salad tossing'' even though it's basically the same thing that he was just fined for.
Howard has a bunch of stuff on his web site HowardStern.com. He says that if the senate passes this bill and the President signs it, he's out of there. He doesn't want to be there when the FCC decides to pull shows from the last six years and fine him $10 million or something like that.

Howard pointed out the hypocrisy of Clear Channel and their ''zero tolerance'' policy. They haven't fired Elliott in the Morning after he did an ''indecent'' broadcast but they fired Howard for a caller saying the N-word. He said this whole thing is f'd up. Howard goofed on John Tesh about his idiotic comments about how it's about time they start fining broadcasters.

Sean the White Rapper called in and told Howard that he shouldn't be giving up so easy with this thing. He thinks that Howard should be standing up for himself and shouldn't leave radio. Howard said everything is really weird because Bono said the F-word on a broadcast but the FCC isn't going to fine NBC for that even though they're saying that it was an indecent broadcast. Howard said that they need everyone to file complaints about every broadcast that can be considered indecent. There was an F-word let out on a Philadelphia TV broadcast. Then there was an S-word after a basketball game that made it out on a network program. Howard believes that he is being targeted for some reason and the whole thing is friggin crazy...

1. Not targeted for "some reason", targeted because he opposes the Emperor*
Just like Russia. In 20 years, Emperor Ahnold will be sending people to the Arizona Gulags for similar offenses.

3. Heard that song before from Howard......
In fact this is the same song he's been singing since the 80's.

4. If people didn't make such a big freakin' deal
about one word on TV, none of this would be happening. Compare how many people who saw the Jackson boob live to those that saw it on tape which basically played on a loop on virtually every media outlet. I did not even know Bono had said "fucking" until I saw it on the news. This is a fundie Christian witchhunt aided by media hysteria.

6. "He's urging listeners to turn her in."
Howard Free Speech defender? Please.

I know he wants to make the case for selective prosecution and possibly for the FCC to fall on its own weight but talk about screwing others in a risky attempt to save yourself.

That's the thing about Howard. I will defend his right to free speech but Howard is not a free speech defender.

7. I think he is. And I think he has a valid point. The FCC would never
in a million years drop a fine on Oprah. Yet when he wanted to air the audio form her show he had to bleep it for fear of being fined.
