Is anyone going down because of the 9/11 commission?
Edited on Tue Mar-23-04 05:59 PM by Bluzmann57
It is becoming increasingly obvious that there are some incredible screw ups being exposed in these hearings so my question is this; will bush sacrifice someone in order to appease the electorate? Perhaps Condi Rice or Colin Powell. Maybe Wolfowitz. Maybe even Rummy. IMO they all should be imprisoned right there with Milosevic, but thats not the question. I am believing that they are now on the ropes and bush/cheney will fire someone over all of this.

1. If anyone goes down, it will be Tenet.
But I don't think anyone's getting fired. That would look like Bush made a mistake keeping him on. Bush doesn't make mistakes; didn't you get the memo?

8. I don't think Tenet will go.............
I believe the only reason he is still around is because he has dirt (not necessarily 9-11 related) on everyone else. He allowed himself to be the patsy for the WMD intelligence screw-up, but he won't take the fall for 9-11.

15. I think there is mutual blackmailing going on.
Bush on Tenet and Tenet on Bush.

Very strange, when you think of it. Bush could have deep sixed Tenet after 9/11 if it was an intelligence failure, particularly since he was a Clinton apointee....so why didn't he? Then Bush has the Iraq WMD fiasco, another 'blame the CIA' moment....still no firing. I'm pretty sure that Tenet has evidence that Bush was clearly briefed on 9/11 or knows even more incriminating details.

But what does Bush have on Tenet? George T. has been hung out twice by Dimson, yet he sticks around for more.

Well, kind of, maybe like a fake professional wrestling match.

Tenet has too much on junior!!

2. Heads Should Have
...rolled long ago. There have been enough screw ups exposed. Unfortunately, their arrogance has gotten in the way.

6. And she has had so much practice
how the hell, with all that rehearsal, has she not learned to lie? With that inability to learn, how did she get the PhD? Cracker Jacks?

4. My feeling is that none of them will go down
in spite of all the evidence and the work of anyone.

They will get away with it, when every single one of them involved with the whole Iraq invasion, was complicit in lying and in war crimes.

They are idiots full of themselves and their perception of themselves as powerful. Their duty to the American people? Non existent.

9. They picked their two scapegoats
early on, I knew it, and so did you. Tenant will be the third, to "balance" things out. Too bad the two hand picked scapegoats didn't use common sense on why they were being picked. Perhaps wishful thinking on their part...very naive

10. No.
And yes, they should be imprisoned alongside their soul-mate Milosevic.

I will believe it when I see it and not before. Totalitarians are funny that way. They'll kill and destroy many people to avoid admitting even one lie.

11. No one that I can tell, and I've watched all the hearings.
The worst I've heard was the response while the planes were still in the air. Even after the first one hit, there was still no response like I thought would have happened.

I always thought if a plane went off course, it was contacted, and if no response, planes were scrambled. DIDN'T HAPPEN!!

I don't know who they can blame that on?

14. Nope, if Libby et al are indicted, Cheney may not run for re-selection.
Then Condi will take his place. No one can critici8ze her without being "anti-woman, racist, etc."

18. Condi is Bush's Mommy figure
He is too dependent on her; she goes everywhere with him, to Camp David, to Texas.

She has replaced Karen Hughes, his other Mommy.

17. It would mean having to admit he was wrong.
Not the Shrubsters style. In the rarified precincts he comes from, blame is something you unload on the help.

I think the Bushies will continue to blame Clinton.

24. I've only had a chance to watch snippets of the 9/11
My VCR didn't record for this morning; luckily, there is a replay on now. Over the course of the day I was able to get other snippets from the car radio.

What is everyone's opinion of the hearing? It seems like everybody screwed up, yet Albright is trying very hard to say, but not say, that they were thwarted in their efforts to use the military early on in Afgahnistan.

I'm not getting good vibs from this so far. What have I missed..fill me in.

22. The only thing that could bring them down
is for people in the know in high places to expose everything to the people or for a group (whether 9/11 families or something similar) to get wind of information and keep pressing for real answers without ideological dialogue. Democratic institutions and checks are the first to go when a country crosses the Rubicon.

23. They (especially Condi, rummy and cheney) have lied so much
on national tv. Their stories contradict their own former stories. If asked the right questions, the cabal would collapse. But
what hope is there of that happening. I do not trust this commission.
