Monty Python's 'Life of Brian' to be rereleased - to counter 'The Passion'
Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 02:22 AM by scottxyz
Python film to challenge Passion

Monty Python said 'The Life of Brian' spoofed Bible films and intolerance

Monty Python's film 'The Life of Brian' is to return to US cinemas next month following the success of 'The Passion of the Christ'.

The Biblical satire will be re-released in Los Angeles, New York and other US cities to mark its 25th anniversary.

Adverts will challenge Mel Gibson's blockbuster with the lines "Mel or Monty?", "The Passion or the Python?"

Distributor Rainbow said it hoped the film would "serve as an antidote to all the hysteria about Mel's movie".

15. Yes, big controversy, despite the fact
that Jesus himself is treated rather reverently in his two appearances in the film. The fun is being poked, instead, at people who will grasp onto anything and claim it as a messiah or as a religion.

Funny that those protestors couldn't grasp that.

16. Not just a messiah or religion...
but also pokes fun at incompetent leaders, occupation forces, people speaking with a lisp, executions, mixing religion and politics.... the list could go on.

Watch this movie. It's great!

Yeah, it's pretty funny that "The Passion" should be released on the year that marks the 25th anniversary of "Life of Brian."

Someone actually suggested going into a theatre showing "The Passion" packed with fundies, and when Jesus is hanging from the cross, breaking into "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life."
