What if 9/11 happened when Clinton was President and Clarke came out?
If Clarke came out blasting Clinton claiming that it's his fault he didn't prevent it, would any Republicans step in to defend Clinton and claim Clarke was wrong? OF COURSE NOT. And if any did, you can bet the retribution they received from the party leadership wouldn't be too kind.

So then why do we have Biden and LIEberman out defending * and trying to discredit Clarke?

1. Lieberman is RW in disguise
I don't know about Biden.

I think that Republicans stick to the 11th commandment where Dems don't. Unfortunetaly.

3. Limbaugh would then be lauding Clarke as a great American
Instead, today he is suggesting Clarke should contemplate suicide. I am no longer appalled by right wing hate.

6. Here's the sticky wicket:
One of the Clarke criticisms of the Clinton administration was for not ordering military retaliation for the USS Cole, which I believe, took place in October 2000. That was just one month before the presidential election.

Now everybody stop and take a breath. When Clinton came into office in 1992, what did George Bush I begin which he didn't have time to finish on his own watch? Answer: Somalia. George Bush I handed Clinton a plan -- a military action. That's exactly what Powell was calling for and that's what Clarke said was necessary in order to protect national security interests. That's why he thought George Bush I was the best tactical leader on national security issues.

But so far, nobody has stopped to consider that the transfer of a plan for military action from the Clinton Administration to the Bush Administration could have concluded with the same tragic results as Somalia. Remember Black Hawk Down? Giving a new administration a task that involved military action on foreign soil without the staff that implimented the idea didn't turn out to be a good idea.

Maybe Big Dawg wanted to give Bush II the chance he never had. The opportunity to make his own mistakes.

7. If 9/11 happened on Clinton's watch ...
... and he had as many secrets and connections to bin Laden as Bu$hCo has, Clinton would have been impeached or assassinated by now.
