1. Good time to remember that a lot of Supreme Court Justices are aging
and want to retire.

If it's bad now, how much worse will it be if two or three or four Justices are replaced by Scalia clones? Sandra Day O'Connor has not been well and wants to retire. She's a swing voter. Stevens is in his mid-80s. He's a consistent liberal. Ginsburg is not well. She's a consistent liberal. Rehnquist says he wants to retire. There are four potential vacancies right there.

No harm in remembering this if you get discouraged that Kerry isn't liberal enough. Remember what is at stake.

3. Watch West Wing?
It may be a case of life imitating fiction, but I think Kerry would compromise and try to appoint some Liberals and some more Conservative justices. He would do what it took to get the bench filled. Doubt that? Then write the Kerry campaign and ask how he would deal with Repugnantcan shenanigans to block judicial appointees. Or better yet, send Democrats to the Senate (and the House) so they can't block the nominees.

Bush on the other hand, has no interest in compromising, only in sucking up to his ultra-right wing Corporate/Fundamentalist base. The Repugs who control the Senate want to find dirty parliamentary tricks to thwart any attempt by the Democrats to stop this.

I don't like being so partisan, but I intend to vote a straight party ticket this election.

4. I hate what we are doing...
in the senate....

I will never support using senate rules to make an end run around the constitution. Especially with the thugs on the other side of the aisle. This situation does nothing to advance democracy or debate.

Bush is nominating horrible, partisan judges, but I wish there was some other way to keep them off the court.

5. If he puts up Janice Rogers Brown we're screwed
and he's just scuzzy enough to do it.

6. If the current administration had been legally elected, you might...
...have an argument. But, IMHO, the NeoCons pulled off a bloodless coup in December 2000, and everything, and I do mean everything, has gone downhill since then. Under those conditions, we are no longer bound by the Constitution in regaining the centers of government. The sooner people realize that, the sooner we will have the numbers of people necessary to do what it takes to restore America to what it was before December 2000.

I support ANY action that will slow or prevent the NeoCons from reaching ANY of their objectives.

Call me radical if you want, but the NeoCons will do everything they can to hang on to the power they gained by illegal means.

She sold out the country.
