Walmart and the "Committee for the Preservation of Capitalism"?
Edited on Sun Mar-28-04 06:38 PM by JanMichael
EDIT: OK, some of the "kids" do.

Huh? Like it needs the help? Anyone familiar with this charitable group? I wonder what they do...Sponser homeless shelters for surplus humans? Pay for a retired Pinkerton Home?

Truly from the :wtf: files.

1. Maybe they know something we don't
Or it's just a Bush front group to get around the Campaign finance laws.

2. If they cared for capitalism, they'd all resign and go out of business
Capitalism is about small companies duking it out. Not large ones stamping out smaller ones than obsessing to become the only player in the cosmos, giving them more power and control than they even begin to deserve.

4. Can't say I agree. This is like the 4 store Pharmacy that clobbers...
...the Mom & Pop place down the street into closing. That's OK but when WalGreens stomps them three years later it's all of a sudden "Wrong" and "Unfair". What about the Mom & Pop place? Was it fair for them when the other "Small Business" killed them? This is very subjective stuff.

To me it's a fundamental flaw in the entire system.

Asked if PAC fundraising is easier in the majority, Rep. Jim McCrery, R-La., smiled and replied, "I should hope so." His Committee for the Preservation of Capitalism is one of the largest PACs controlled by a member not in the leadership or serving as a full committee chairman or ranking member.

They were in the top 50 PACs for the last election cycle. It looks like it's tobacco money.
