Daniel Ellsberg speaks about Richard Clarke SFgate press
Edited on Mon Mar-29-04 10:39 PM by Mari333
Ellsberg said the only real whistle-blower of recent times is Gun, who briefly faced charges under the British Official Secrets Act and supported her claims with documents.

"I find her really admirable," Ellsberg said, but he considers the rest remarkable, too, for being willing to go public in a way and with a speed that simply didn't occur 40 years ago.

"Why are they acting differently from people in my generation?" he said. "We knew (Vietnam) was just as deceptive and the policy was just as bad, but we certainly weren't tempted to leak."

Vietnam on Speed, as one University Professor said.

"I do think what Clarke has done is really unprecedented in our history: somebody who served as a national security adviser to the president stepping down and, while that president is still in office, blasting him," he said. "That just hasn't been done before."

I think clarkes 'papers' have the potential to be as damaging to the wh as his were :bounce:

thanks :hi:

peace

and on top of that,Staff Sgt Camilio Mejia now going to be on 60 minutes II on Wed saying why he wont go back to Iraq. He is setting the precedent and breaking ice for others.
Vietnam on Speed, indeed.
Maybe we are evolving and learning from history. slow. not fast enough for me, as Michael stands in Iraq, but its happening.

3. "Why, you are all on fire!"
(Frederick Douglass) To a fellow-laborer, who urged him at this time to keep cool, saying, "Why, you are all on fire!" he answered, "Brother May, I have need to be all on fire, for I have mountains of ice about me to melt."

6. A Time to Break Silence

"A time comes when silence is betrayal."

MLK in reference to vietnam...

I'm sure he and FD would have been in perfect agreement today.

I am reminded of what Maya Angelou says she does when she gets nervous about something, she conjures up in her mind all her sheros and heros and allows them to fill her heart with strength to face anything.

i think it is a good tecnique, certainly gives me strength, especially during these dark trying days and nights.

may they all come home ASAP.

5. Clarke talking IS unprecedented.
The Pentagon, CIA, NSA, NRO, FBI, DoD, DoJ, and right on down the line to rat-catcher on the beat outside the BFEE turd Scalia's chambers have all crossed paths with Richard A. Clarke. They ALL know him for an honest man. Bush, on the other hand...
