Did Wolf Blitzer said WH Insiders on Clarke "weird aspects" his life?
I just heard a liberal talk host - Lynn Cullen in Pittsburgh say she heard that yesterday Blitzer talking of WH insiders saying Clarke just wants to make some $$$$'s with his book that there are some "weird aspects" to Clarke's personal life?

She was pointing out that so-called neutral or "liberal" CNN was doing the WH's propaganda work for them.

What's Rove about to stoop to now? I've heard the Freepers are all repeating that Clarke is gay.

1. don't know about yesterday
But he said this last week, apropos of nothing, in a 'conversation' with John King. A definite smear that had *nothing* to do with his testimony.

Who needs WH spokespersons or Republican attack machines when you can get Blitzer to carry the water?

3. Lynn gets a lot of email - so maybe she was talking of last week
Bet Rove's sending this out to the his sleazy little minions ala what he did to McCain.

8. what's interesting
Is that if indeed Blitzer was referring to alleged homosexuality as something "weird", that's a bigger story than anything to do with Clarke.

Then again, CNN trots out the Family Research Council to give their hate speech anytime a gay issue is discussed on CNN, so a homophobic remark here and there probably isn't too shocking.

he recounts the story as an example of how the fax machines go from the WH to the public without filter.

5. Yes ...I heard him ....he made a lengthy statement concerning Clarke's
"weird personal life"....Wolf asked someone he was talking to (I forget who) if they had heard the rumours....He didn't say what the rumours were but hinted they were nasty. I believe the person said they hadn't heard anything. I listen to so much lately it's hard to keep it all straight, but Wolf is so obviously biased towards the right....

7. He isn't married so I knew they were going to play it like this
whether there is something "weird" in his life (aside from GASP not being married) doesn't matter they just have to throw it out there and repeat it over and over. Also they may try to MAKE him prove there ISN'T anything "weird' in his life.

6. I hope he is gay
It will only prove that Bu$h hates gay people, along with the Republican party and that honest, hardworking, dedicated gay men tell the truth, while bigoted, hateful war mongrels lie and want to oppress good people. And honestly...who freaking' cares..it'll make the Bush supporters seem insipid and maligning...oh wait..they already are, but they'll just convince moderates of it even more. It proves that the Republican attack machine is really true.

12. I'll second that emotion
"Whispers." "He's weird." "Rumors." - All rove's modus operandi and the distinct smell of desperation. Got to keep that base of haters and homophobes and racists intact. The ship of state is a fixing to run aground; and Captain's of ships which run aground in the world's greatest Navy get fired.

3. SOP. Anybody else hear Blitzer smear: "weird aspects in his life"

http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0403/24/wbr.00.html

BLITZER: Well, John, I get the sense not only what Dr. Rice just said to you and other reporters at the White House, but what administration officials have been saying since the weekend, basically that Richard Clarke from their vantage point was a disgruntled former government official, angry because he didn't get a certain promotion. He's got a hot new book out now that he wants to promote. He wants to make a few bucks, and that his own personal life, they're also suggesting that there are some weird aspects in his life as well, that they don't know what made this guy come forward and make these accusations against the president.

Is that the sense that you're getting, speaking to a wide range of officials?

KING: None of the senior officials I have spoken to here talked about Mr. Clarke's personal life in any way. But they offer a very mixed picture. They say that he was a very dedicated, a very smart member of the senior White House staff, that he was held over because of his expertise in the Clinton administration on terrorism issues and the Bush administration, these officials say, wanted a smooth transition.

14. Thanks to John King
a small voice of reason and a little modicum of decorum. Wolfe's repeating rove's whispers, Kings reporting facts. "Very dedicated." "Very smart." "Because of his expertise." Clarke would have equalled a "smooth transition" if bush didn't have to find a reason to carry out cheney's task force orders.

17. sounds like Rove didn't plant the smears with King
but Blitzer is another matter.

I can't wait to find out the lucky six who got fed the Plame leak. A good indicator of who Rove considers the most reliable whores.

27. I got a stack of about 10 books now I'm trying to read
Edited on Tue Mar-30-04 12:07 PM by rmpalmer
doing about 10 pages per book for as many as I can get in per night before it's time to go to sleep. All of them are heavily post-it noted.

Starting to personally feel I'm keeping the publishers in business. But I want to reward authors who write these books. It is a nice feeling compared to last year when all that was out was liberal-bashing books.

I've already got Brock's book pre-ordered.

22. Remember, if not him...
...it would have been someone else. And he has plenty of company:

Lee Atwater: before he died, he renounced the character-assassin school of politics that he built, even though Rove and its other "graduates" have been polluting the political system ever since;

Al Franken: OK, he never actually worked for conservatives, but back when he wrote Point/CounterPoint skits for Saturday Night Live, he uncovered the formula for abusive, liberal-hating RW media blowhards ("Jane, you ignorant slut!"), and the real ones have followed the script ever since.

28. What about the "weird aspects" of Condoleezza's life?
Edited on Tue Mar-30-04 03:46 PM by Snellius
Or the Turd Blossom himself?

Sick & depressing facts about Karl Rove's so-called life:

When he was 20 he found out that the man he called dad, who had just walked out on his mother, was not his real father but his stepfather. After the divorce, his mother moved to Reno and, some years later, she took her own life.

Rove did not marry until he was 36. Three years later, his wife angrily walked out on him, screaming at their divorce proceedings: "I don't love you. I've never loved you. And I'm leaving."

Fun guy.
