Does George Tenet keep his job because
he knows too much about Bush and Cheney?

I mean, if he was meeting with GWB every morning, he knows more about him than a lot of people, and he sure as heck knows what was or wasn't going on in response to his warnings.

1. that's what I find funny about the CIA
being used to look at Clarke's transcripts. The CIA do not like * for the most part. IMHO, they would not edited out stuff just to make * happy.

3. Is that the Valerie Plame grand jury?
If so, why would he wait.

Is he going to be implicated?

4. George Tenet won't go anywhere until
he's good and ready. Old family friend of the bushies - CIA building in DC named after bush because of Tenet.

7. "Old family friend of the bushies"?? Where did you get that? Link?...
As to the CIA HQ building in Langley being renamed as the GEORGE H.W. BUSH CENTER FOR CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE, that was the result of Congressional legislation as proposed under H.R. 3821:

<http://www.fas.org/irp/congress/1998_cr/h980803-cia.htm>

All Tenet did was introduce Poppy Bush at the official renaming ceremony.

Additionally, you might want to read this commentary:

<http://www.j-bradford-delong.net/movable_type/2004_archives/000521.html>

Excerpt:

"What had happened was that the Deputies Committee--headed by Hadley--had refused to treat al Qaeda as a sufficiently important issue to be moved to the front burner: it was to stay on the back burner, away from the Principals' notice and away from decision-making time, while the whole South Asian Policy Stew was cooked.

Richard Clarke did not like this. So he hatched a plan. He and George Tenet would react to the Deputies and Hadley's blocking their plan to attack al Qaeda by going around the NSC process. They would use Tenet's daily briefings of George W. Bush as a way to get their view of the situation into George W. Bush's head:

'George Tenet... and I regularly commiserated that al Qaeda was not being addressed more seriously by the new administration. Sometimes I would... find the Director of Central Intelligence sitting at my desk... waiting to vent his frustration. We agreed that Tenet would insure that the President's daily briefings would continue to be replete with threat information on al Qaeda. President Bush... noticing that there was a lot about al Qaeda, asked Condi Rice why it was that we couldn't stop 'swatting flies' and eliminate al Qaeda.'"

9. Try Barbara Bush's "Reflections"
There's an awful lot of cross referencing on some of the things you are hearing right now and Barbara Bush's book came out before the * hit the fan - notice they haven't been touting her book lately - probably trying to pull it off the market.

13. Welll, that part is true - not believing anything
she says (got the book for .99). Yes, I have Clarke's book and I believe Clarke and there are many other references to back up all that Clarke says. However, there have been articles in the past about Tenet being a close family friend to Sr.bush and I didn't mean to imply that Tenet named the building by himself - he's the one who pushed it (also other references). This takes nothing away from anything Clarke has said or done - in my mind only adds to it.

11. Quid pro quo and mutual self-preservation
That's the reason, in a nutshell.

Tenet fucked up with 9/11, as well as Bush. Tenet cherry-picked intelligence for Bush.

Their destinies are tied at the hip. If one goes down, so does the other, and they both know it.
