My rant...Please read...
Edited on Tue Mar-30-04 04:28 PM by Bush_Sucks
This commission is a joke. Democrats are going to lob their friends a bunch of softball questions while Republicans will do the same to the administration.

Nobody cares about whether or not the truth comes out. They only care about pointing fingers in order to stay in power.

Clarke came out and tried to comment on the actual policy (or policy failures) and has undergone character assasination by the administration. The same administration who feels it can Classify any information that is harmful to itself. Yet they can conveniently declassify anything they need for a smear campaign on someone else.

The other day on CNN they showed that despite all of this Bush is back up to a 51% approval rating with Kerry slipping to the low 40s. Why? Because Bush is running ads calling Kerry a liberal and saying he will raise taxes. People would rather continue living with a crippling deficit than admit only the wealthy will get a tax increase...and they can afford it.

Politics in the US are Fucked. Enjoy your corrupt cesspool Americans...and while your economy crumbles under a crippling debt, and foreign companies take over more and more of your assets to cover the trade deficit, and borders are wide open for illegal mexicans, and all the number of jobs continues to fall, the world mistrusts you more than ever, terrorism acts have increased...at least you can take comfort in the fact that your president isn't liberal minded and taxes (for most of you) didn't go up that extra $10.

4. The tax ads on Kerry are totally fraudulant...
...John Kerry never introduced a tax bill into Congress ever, that proposed a $0.50 per gallon federal tax on gasoline. Total lie and it should be exposed as such. :kick:

But, let's say such a tax were enacted. I just calculated my share of that based on my driving record of 18,000 miles per year at 22mpg. That would be 819 gallons of gasoline on average and the extra tax would work out to $409.50 for the year or $7.88 per week. I'm no economist, but suppose that reduces the demand across the board of gasoline say by 10%. The price per barrel would fall, our reserves would max out at 100% and people who use a lot more gasoline I think would attempt to conserve. That makes sense to me.:kick: :bounce:

There are 300,000,000 non-commercial vehicles in the USA like mine operating. So, such a tax could bring in an additional $123billion in federal revenues annually while putting on the breaks for wasteful fuel consumption and stimulating fuel alternatives. Considering that BushCo's tax cuts yielded me exactly $76 in 2003 and nothing this year I don't have a problem doing my fair share fighting the oil wars:toast:

5. Welcome to DU!
You sound as disgusted as I feel today. There's lots of comfort and comraderie here, though. It's like an oasis in the desert.

11. I'm as disgusted as you are, but not as pessimistic.

I actually believe that Bush is going down, will be run out of town this November. I really believe it. I have to believe it. Otherwise I will be immigrating someplace. North, south, I really don't care. The United States of America cannot survive a lame-duck George W. Bush administration. If you think they are bad now, wait until they have four years with no hemming and hawing b/c of an upcoming election.

If most people are content with their lives and all is well, Bush will win. But we know here that that simply isn't the case. I know, I know, that's sort of small comfort right now, but I believe that there won't have to be blood in the streets for the American people to do the smart thing, the right thing, and repudiate Bush.

Welcome to DU, btw. :toast:
