Arnold: "I Will Make The Decisions For The People" (Take 2)
Edited on Thu Aug-07-03 11:28 AM by CO Liberal
Limbaugh just played a sound bite from Arnold's press conference yesterday, and that's what he said. Basically, he said that no special interests will have any influence on him, because he's too rich and doesn't need their money.

But are Arnold's interests in sync with what the people need? Is he simply riding his personal polularity, and offerring the voters of California a pig in a poke? Or is he taking his talking points from someone in the background, such as a Karl Rove?

Bottom line, as far as I'm concerned? Vote for Arnold - get a dictator. IMHO, his election would be a HUGE mistake. California would be much better off keeping Gray Davis.

(Reposted in an attempt to comply with the new temporary rules.)

4. It IS jolly nice of him.
I wonder, if you pit the potential Governor of California against the Governor of Minnesota in physical contest, which would win? I'd bet on Jesse - Ahnuld played special forces, Ventura was special forces.

It all sucks, but it should at least be interesting - seems like everyone has thrown their hats in the ring.

3. Arnold is just another Austrian politician. Sounds a little like
Mr. "Schicklgruber" starting off in the 1920's in Munich.

12. He can be California's Georg Haider!!!
Mr. Haider is the leader of the Austrian Freedom Party, a far right wing group that is currently part of Austria's rightist ruling govennment!

Now let us look at Mr. Haider's Record, Shall we????:

1-Mr. Haider denies the Houlicost ever occured
2-Mr. Haider believes that immigrants are to blame for his country's ills
3-Mr. Haider supports fully deregulated markets(just look how well ENRON and TYCO did)
4-He blames the Jews for the ills of the modern world
5-He believes that Mr. Hitler was "misunderstood" (what the HELL does that mean????????)

Now what does this say about the Austrian people??? "Nazi-lite"?

I would remind you that Austria is a very conservative nation on social issues. They tend to be backwards.
A personal thought, maybe they hate themselves for going along with the Anchluss?

Remember that Arnuld is a liberal socially and believes that the Houlicost was terrible, which it was!!!
But he will be a puppet for the right wingers!

14. not a nazi, a black ploughman
Edited on Thu Aug-07-03 12:29 PM by babzilla
as all Letterman fans know, the preferred description is: the black ploughman will make the decision for you, that sounds much better to the moderates. I've given away the first answer, now take this quiz.

http://film.guardian.co.uk/quiz/questions/0,5952,113133,00.html

My results:
You scored 6 out of a possible 10
You are Conan the Barbarian - with big hair, furry boots, an enormous scabbard but not much up top. Better luck next time.

fairly accurate, except I've got a whole lot up top, oh my achin' back.

edited because I couldn't resist the image

13. Just like Dubya saying "I will protect the American People"
I don't want Dubya protecting me or Ahhnold making decisions for me.

Basically, he said that no special interests will have any influence on him, because he's too rich and doesn't need their money.

Ahhnold's remark is totally inane - dubya had enough money, but let special interests influence him, cheney, wolfie and rummy too, and how many other super rich are in the misadministration but are so greedy they just want more and more?!

And it's really funny you mention rush - how hypocritical of him that it's OK when an repugnican actor speaks its OK, but if its a Dem Actor (like Janine, or Farrel, or Sheen) "they are irrelevant and nobody cares what they think - after all, they are only enterainers". I think he is just too stupid to realize that is all HE is - an entertainer!

17. I caught that fatboy was trying to paint him as socialist (ahhh, socially
liberal).

How true could that be? Seems like Ah-nuld's living every Repuke's dream, schtupping a Kennedy.

Fatboy's trying to paint Ah-nuld as somebody we lefties should trust.

Either way, Repukes win. Issa/Ah-nuld. As Fatboy said, Calif goes to Bush in 04, either way.

18. Actually he does have a number of moderate positions
Socially he is a moderate and is pro-choice. He had an initiative on the ballot for after school programs that passed handily and is in all probability contributing to the budget crisis since in order to cooperate with the mandate, funds must be shifted from elsewhere in education.

The main issues such as his position on privatization, offshore drilling and other areas of concern are what is a mystery.

Arnold was against the impeachment of Clinton BTW. He was angry at the Repubs for it.

His appeal to moderate Dems for his actual positions should be a concern since one is not clear what his positions are on LABOR RIGHTS and the like...although he is a member of SAG and therefore, a union member.
